    Well, I really like uLoader.

I know that config and GX seem to be more in fashion but this really has so many things going for it.
I am really enjoying learning its features and whats more it works, by far the most reliable loader I have used to date.

What are its drawbacks beacause I am seriously considering using it exclusively.

Just one question though, I am trying out the ability to read dvd backups but am worried that my external DVD player is not externally powered.
Is there enough power via the Wii USB port to run my player as well as reading the backups?

    Update:

No problems running USB dvd player.
The CISO software included in the uLoader download works perfectly to burn several backups onto one DVD (via Nero that is).

ok - installed uloader 5.1e - created folder on my FAT32 USB nand\install\ and placed a wad in there (spot the differences). Wad installs fine on uloader boot but when i attempt to launch it i get a ES_Identify error. I have no clue what this means or how to resolve.

I've installed uLoader 5.1E. I have a USB hard drive (a Seagate 1500 GB FreeAgent Desk) with a FAT32 partion and a WBFS partition. uLoader runs ISOs from the WBFS partition without any trouble. It also installs and runs Wiiware off a FAT32 SD card without trouble. But it won't see the FAT32 partition on the hard drive, so I can't install/run Wiiware from there. In the upper right of the screen, it just says DVD and the other tab is blank (where it says FAT32 when I have the SD card in). The FAT32 partition on the hard drive is the first partition, and it's primary and active. HBC can see the FAT32 partition (in fact, that's where I'm running uLoader from). But uLoader just doesn't see it.

    So,
    • I know the Wii can access the FAT32 partition
    • I know uLoader can access the hard drive
    • I know uLoader can successfully emulate NAND (and install/run Wiiware) from FAT32

So, why can't uLoader see the FAT32 partition? Any suggestions?

Maybe you cIOS? You need to be using Hermes' v5 or above or Waninkoko's r18 or above to use FAT32.

I downloaded the zip file here: http://mods.elotrolado.net/~hermes/wii/uloader_v5.1E.rar (the one linked to in this guide), and ran the cIOS installer included in that zip. I installed all three in there (202, 222, 223). Is there something else I should install?

Noob question: How do I see what versions of things I have installed?

/edit: Also, if I didn't have the proper cIOS installed, would FAT32 work off the SD card? Because that works fine. It's just the FAT32 partition on the harddrive it can't see.

Okay, I just installed 202, 222, 223, and 224 again, following this guide. Still no go. So I don't think it's my cIOS. Any other ideas?

    Have you installed v 5.1 into 222 and 223?

Thanks! I thought it was 5 or 5.1 but I'm wrong I guess. I'm old school and still using WBFS.
