Sorry, I thought this thread was about updating IOS's and stuff, so that's why I was asking in this thread if I should worry if my IOS 36/38 were unpatched and maybe my 249 is out of date or something.

Nope. This thread specifically deals with Waninkoko's cIOS - How to install and manage. You've already made a specific request pertaining to your IOS structure in the other M thread. I'd await a response there and stay in accordance with the link nightstah just gave you.

While you are likely unaware of it, mauifrog demonstrated to staff's astonishment the other day that back ups exclusively run off the cIOS, that not a single IOS (beyond system menu of course) really matters. That was news to some of us, but he presented irrefutable proof. Verify the integrity of your game/image.

Well, my question here was more pertaining to IOS 36/38/249, and my question in the other thread was more pertaining to any issues that might be preventing me from playing that game. I consider those two separate questions. That's why I made two posts. I'm aware of the rules here. Long time lurker, just never really a need to post. I shouldn't have even mentioned Metroid in my earlier post in this thread because that wasn't really my intention I guess. Just want to get things up-to-date. I'm gonna go do some moar lurking now. Sorry for any trouble I caused.

    edit:
Well, just to show off my noobishness. I didn't even realize cIOS was different from IOS, but now looking at the two terms, it's obvious I suppose. Somehow I must've missed the "c". Guess I gots more reading to do :P

Yea, probably shouldn't have mentioned that particular game title in this thread.
There is much failing going on in that thread and it has become irritating to staff and others who have tried to help. It tends to throw up red flags (neither your fault or ours).
TBH the only thing I see here is upading 249 to rev 17.

Yes that was very interesting. I din't follow up to see if he did any more experimenting but thanx for reminding us about that.

real confused about all the numbers

    Hi all,

I´m getting really confused about all the numbers (ios, cios, bases and so on).

I followed this guide, ran "cIOS38Rev17 Installer" and installed "IOS38-64-v3867.wad" as IOS36.

Here is my first couple of questions.

    1. Is the "IOS38-64-v3867.wad" an official IOS file? Nothing modified about that one?
    2. Is it the "cIOS38Rev17 Installer" who modifies the "IOS" file to a "cIOS"?
    3. What "base" does this file have "IOS38-64-v3867.wad"? Is it Base 38 because it called "IOS38"?
    4. How can and why should a file called "IOS38..." be installed as "IOS36"? Shouldn´t it be installed as "IOS38" instead?

I´m then looking to install Hemers IOS 222/223 following this guide:

    Hermes' Ios222/223 - GAF's Wii Homebrew Tutorial

It tells me to first of all install "IOS236" -> Ios236 - GAF's Wii Homebrew Tutorial

    Few questions here also..

    5. Im told to download a file called "IOS36-64-v3351.wad" and install it. Would that be to IOS36?

    6. Wouldn´t that intervene with the "IOS38-64-v3867.wad"-file which I earlier also installed to IOS36?

    7. Is IOS36 and Base 36 the same thing?

Sorry about the stupid questions and bad english..
