So I did not install anything other than HBC and bootmii (I have a new wii that I purchased a few weeks ago with 4.2u) and I want to virginize my wii. My question is, do I still have to do part C of your guide? Also, I have seen on other posts and a video on youtube ( ) that say to go to IOS36 instead of IOS249. Do you know the difference and which should I follow? Thanks

    Thumbs up

I was finally able to figure out everything after being retarded and finished the guide. Thank a lot for everything and all the information you provided! You deserve a Thanks.

Edit: Some things I wanted to add.

In case someone else is in the exact same situation as me, this is what I started with:
    System update 4.2u
    HBC
    Bootmii as Boot2
Also my Wii is a good 3 to 4 years old so it's an older Wii.

Before I go on, I should say that I am not selling my Wii. Just want to virginize it. So I did not format it.

The major thing that I found I had to do differently was use everything with ISO36 and not ISO 249. Otherwise it froze everything. Pretty sure omgmaserati has already said that is fine somewhere this thread, but I wanted to add this here for reference. (You should be able to use ISO 60 if ISO36 doesn't work.)

These are the things I did NOT have to do in the guide because I didn't have perloader/starfall etc:

    NAND clean (aka part B3)
AnyTitle Deleter (aka part C1 and C2)

There's a reason I did not have to do AnyTitle Deleter. The ONLY custom title I had was HBC.

What happened to me in the AnyTitle Deleter part was ALL my titles were unknown. After looking at each 4 character code for each title I realized that no other title was created with HBC other than the JODI.

Now the retarded thing I did was I deleted JODI without reading on in the guide. After a bit of freaking out, I continued the guide. I finished, updated the Wii, and it was fine. No brick or anything. So I'm just going to guess that it wasn't that bad that I deleted JODI, but I'm not saying you SHOULD. Just in case you're an idiot like me and delete either JODI or HAXX, you MAYBE fine. My situation could be different than your's.

That's my little explanation of what happened when I had to do the guide. If you want to ask me anything else omgmaserati, that might interest you in what I had to do different I will answer anything I can remember.

Thanks for the reply mate. Tried version v6b. I replaced the boot.dol in anytitle deleter with the v6b one. guessing thats the correct way of doing things. Not getting the 1017 error but still cant delete the ios as its giving me another error 102. When i restarted wii and went into homebrew channel i got a message saying 'system files are corrupted consult wii manual.'

I can go into HBC now, but still cant delete those ios.

    Any suggestions?

This whole thing has been a nightmare. wish i had never modded it!

    thanks,

    Flex

Hey man thanks million times over!!

This guide is the best! I tried another guide and it did not work at all. The steps seemed to be the same as this one but it did not install all the iso's at the begining like this and i guess i must have been missing some of them or something!

Anyways thanks once again and to anyone out there that has 4.2u it does work!

@bbar021 you can try loading w/ IOS60, IOS36, or IOS249... It doesn't matter... just so long as you get one to work.

In some other guide it told me to delete IOS36 with Anytitle, is this bad since u stated it would brick the system if deleted anything below 200? thanks in advance

Do not delete IOS 36. "In some other guide" = FAIL, follow a Wiihacks Recommended Guide = WIN. Be aware, this isn't classified a "Recommended Guide" (as yet, anyway), however deleting any IOS below 200 is a likely one-way ticket to brickdom, yes.

Let me ask you: why are you virginizing your (presumed) 4.2 system --- due to following "some other guide" and a fail at a successful softmod or?

C'mon people... I can't make it clear enough... DO NOT DELETE ANY IOS LOWER THAN 200... This guide will replace any hacked IOS w/ a new one published by Nintendo.... Loading an IOS and deleting an IOS are TWO DIFFERENT THINGS... If you cannot delete the IOS's over 200 when "LOADING" from IOS249 then you can try to LOAD IOS 36 or 60 but DO NOT DELETE THEM! YOU ONLY DELETE IOS's OVER 200! Just as nightstah said it will most probably result in instant death of your wii if you go about uninstalling IOS's under 200!
