    Install IOS202, 222, 223

    Works well on all softmodded Wii's, white, black, and red.
    Works well on any system menu .

    updated 2-08-2010 to install Hermes cIOS v5
    updated 5-29-2010 to include Hermes cIOS v5.1

    This tutorial will direct you on the use of hermes cIOS installer and the
    installation of

    IOS202 (for MPlayer CE)
    IOS222 (usb loaders that use a FAT32 partition for Wii games)
    IOS223 (for Guitar Hero, Rock Band, and microphone games)
    IOS224 (get the mic working in the Grease game, Def Jam Rapstar, DKCR)

    I would highly recommend installing IOS222/223 from hermes cIOS installer v4.
    It seems that Hermes v5 works well with Hermes uLoader, but not so well
    with other USB Loaders.
    Install Hermes v4 here

    Neogamma does not support Hermes cIOS, NeoGamma uses IOS249. If you want to get a USB microphone working for various games in Neogamma, then install cIOSx rev20 to slot 249, with a base of 56, which may also work for USB instruments. This is not the Waninkoko cIOS thread, no talk of IOS249 here, give a forum search for that cIOS.

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------

    Installing these IOS's will not affect any other IOS

    Using this installer can install IOS202, 222, 223, 224, install one or all, it's your
    choice. If you have previous installs of these IOS's, this installer will overwrite
    those previous installs. You will not have to remove or delete any previous
    installs of the above IOS's. You will need IOS223 (IOS37 base) to boot certain games.

    IOS202 - install IOS60 as a base
    IOS222 - install IOS38 as a base
    IOS223 - install IOS37 as a base
    IOS224 - install IOS57 as a base

    If you are not currently going to install IOS222 or 223 with this installer then I
    would recommend installing at the least IOS202 with this installer, it will speed up
    MPlayer CE, very noticeable difference.

    This installer works good with cIOS38 rev17, if you have 249 rev19 or rev20 with
    a base of something other that 38 then this installer may not work for you. Your
    options are to use another IOS with ES Identify or reinstall your IOS249. You can
    also install IOS236, and use that in place of IOS249 to run the installer. IOS236 is
    nothing more than IOS36 with all of the patches, installed to slot 236. IOS236 can
    be used to run any homebrew app such as Wad Manager, DOP-Mii, etc...... I would
    not use IOS236 to run a backup launcher.

    Download IOS236 v5 installer (requires HBC 1.0.7 or higher)

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------

    Update 2/24/10
    USB Loader GX rev914 and newer supports Hermes v5, LOOK HERE
    uLoader 4.5 and newer supports Hermes v5
    Configurable USB Loader v53 and newer supports Hermes v5, CFG home page
    WiiFlow, ???

    Four members of this community have reported that using this installer and then
    using USB Loader GX, their hard drives were corrupted. So, make sure that you have
    the latest USB loader GX installed, or stay with Hermes v4 until more is known.

    Hermes v5.1 has been released

    Version 5.1

    Hermes messageto 25 May 2010 11:22
    - Added dev / mload shadow engine. To avoid detection of devices on PoP games without patches

    - Added support for files. wip (add to folder "codes" in the SD or USB. See the txt version for more information) (corrected)

    - Removed support for a USB port (does not work well and not where the problem XD)

    - Fixed DVD reading damn chip (dedicated to Spaceman Spiff [+ laughs])

    -Added an updated Installer cIOS not necessary since uLoader (addition to other loaders can hide "/ dev / mload" opening "/ dev / mload / OFF)

    DOWNLOAD HERE - http://mods.elotrolado.net/~hermes/w...ader_v5.1D.rar

    Use this for wifi/network install (your wii is connected to the internet), download from the link above, unzip the rar, look in the apps folder, copy the cios_installer folder to the apps folder of your Wii SD card. Ignore any reference, in the guide, to an ios folder, unless you create your own, for offline install.

    offline install

    Installation

    I have changed this guide to install the IOS's on an individual basis, the previous
    install guide made the user install all of the IOS's.

    1. Unplug any GameCube memory card or controller you may have plugged in.
    2. Remove any disc that may be in the disc drive.
    3. Unplug any USB storage device that may be plugged in.
    4. Open homebrew Channel and select the cIOS installer.
    5. Select IOS249 for install, press the "A" button.

    To install IOS202
    1. Select custom IOS 202 v65535 to install, press the "A" button.
    2. Select IOS base, IOS 60, press the "A" button, wait for download.
    3. Press the "1" button to install
    4. When completed, the Homebrew Channel will reboot, this is normal operation.

    To install IOS222
    1. Select custom IOS 222 v65535 to install, press the "A" button.
    2. Select IOS base, IOS 38 (IOS38 is the only option), press the "A" button.
    3. Press the "1" button to install
    4. When completed, the Homebrew Channel will reboot.

    To install IOS223
    1. Select custom IOS 223 v65535 to install, press the "A" button.
    2. Select IOS base, IOS 37, press the "A" button, wait for download.
    3. Press the "1" button to install.
    4. When completed, the Homebrew Channel will reboot.

    To install IOS224
    1. Select custom IOS 224 v65535 to install, press the "A" button.
    2. Select IOS base, IOS 57, press the "A" button.
    3. Press the "1" button to install
    4. When completed, the Homebrew Channel will reboot.

    Do not install Hermes IOS222/223 v5 and expect it to perform like Hermes IOS222/223 v4.

    If there was an error installing an IOS and you received an error,
    you may have to use anytitle deleter to remove the IOS that gave an error
    and then reinstall it. >> Never delete an IOS lower than IOS200 <<

    How to change the cIOS a game uses to load

    Incomplete list of games that need hermes

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------

    All my testing was done with USB Loader CFG, I keep it updated to the
    latest version.

    Tested Guitar Hero 5 with IOS222 - got the black screen (using this guide).
    Tested Guitar Hero 5 with IOS223 - boots normally (using this guide).

    Tested Guitar Hero World Tour with IOS223 - black screen (using this guide).
    Set IOS249 to boot this game.

    Band Hero has random freezing/locking up, I noticed that after playing a song
    sometimes the game locks up. Haven't noticed this with GH5. I will be reinstalling
    Hermes cIOS v4, games locking up are a no go with my Wii.

    Grease uses IOS224 (base of 57) to recognize the microphone.

    The FAT version of USB Loader CFG will use IOS222 by default, so if it's not
    working make sure you have IOS222 v4 installed.

    As of now, Neogamma does not support IOS222 or IOS223, and probably
    never will.

    Some members will still do it, so here it is again, remember it
    ~~~ Never delete or remove an IOS lower than IOS200 ~~~
    I haven't seen where anyone has had problems with DDR controller, or even inquired about using IOS222 with it. I don't have a DDR controller so I cannot comment on if it will work. If your DDR controller don't work then give this a try, it may get it to work, that's what IOS222 is for, to make USB hardware more compatible. Also try IOS223 if IOS222 doesn't work.
    thanks for guide. please explain why gc mem/controllers should NOT be in while you install, as i am curious.
    also, from what i read in a faq ios222 is to help read the usb#2 (in this case im using usb hdd). im guessing usb#1 is the inside usb port, and that it should work fine as we need no patched ios for that. why not just use that usb port for our stuff then instead of the constant stressing of "outside usb port"
    If you install IOS222, you can use that IOS with usb loaders, you just have to set the usb loader to use that IOS as default, even though your usb hard drive is plugged into the outter most usb port. IOS222 will also use the inner most usb port when you have stuff plugged in to it. The only thing I can verify is a usb microphone. Plug your USB HDD into the outter usb port and everything else gets plugged into the inner usb port. If you plug your USB HDD into the inner usb port and your wii has problems reading the HDD then use the outter port like everybody else.
    This tutorial has just been updated to install Hermes cIOS v5 that was just released. I already changed the download to include the cIOS v5 installer.
    Change log (v5):
    * Now uses only pure ios to install the cIOS
    * Added the ability to install the ios224
    * Added new patch to work with mload and ehcmodule
    * Now all cIOS are installed as version 65,535
    Why you so difficult?
    Unpack the download and move hermes cIOS installer to the apps folder of
    your Wii SD card
    The reason I put the address like this "SD:/apps/cIOS installer" is because
    not everybody is going to have the same drive letter for their SD card slot.
    and how come my SD card shows up as a F: drive?
    Not all computers are the same, not everybody's computer will assign
    drive F to the SD card slot, the SD card slot on my computer is H:
    Hi,
    I tried this but I don't have the option to use a merged ios. I can only choose ios 38, or ios 60, for instance.
    What should I do? I bought my wii back in december and the system menu is 4.2. Thanks!
