updated 2-08-2010 to install Hermes cIOS v5
updated 5-29-2010 to include Hermes cIOS v5.1
http://img30.imageshack.us/img30/8056/iconq.png
This tutorial will direct you on the use of hermes cIOS installer and the
installation of
IOS202 (for MPlayer CE)
IOS222 (usb loaders that use a FAT32 partition for Wii games)
IOS223 (for Guitar Hero, Rock Band, and microphone games)
IOS224 (get the mic working in the Grease game, Def Jam Rapstar, DKCR)
I would highly recommend installing IOS222/223 from hermes cIOS installer v4.
It seems that Hermes v5 works well with Hermes uLoader, but not so well
with other USB Loaders.
Install Hermes v4 here
Neogamma does not support Hermes cIOS, NeoGamma uses IOS249. If you want to get a USB microphone working for various games in Neogamma, then install cIOSx rev20 to slot 249, with a base of 56, which may also work for USB instruments. This is not the Waninkoko cIOS thread, no talk of IOS249 here, give a forum search for that cIOS.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
Installing these IOS's will not affect any other IOS
Using this installer can install IOS202, 222, 223, 224, install one or all, it's your
choice. If you have previous installs of these IOS's, this installer will overwrite
those previous installs. You will not have to remove or delete any previous
installs of the above IOS's. You will need IOS223 (IOS37 base) to boot certain games.
IOS202 - install IOS60 as a base
IOS222 - install IOS38 as a base
IOS223 - install IOS37 as a base
IOS224 - install IOS57 as a base
If you are not currently going to install IOS222 or 223 with this installer then I
would recommend installing at the least IOS202 with this installer, it will speed up
MPlayer CE, very noticeable difference.
This installer works good with cIOS38 rev17, if you have 249 rev19 or rev20 with
a base of something other that 38 then this installer may not work for you. Your
options are to use another IOS with ES Identify or reinstall your IOS249. You can
also install IOS236, and use that in place of IOS249 to run the installer. IOS236 is
nothing more than IOS36 with all of the patches, installed to slot 236. IOS236 can
be used to run any homebrew app such as Wad Manager, DOP-Mii, etc...... I would
not use IOS236 to run a backup launcher.
Download IOS236 v5 installer (requires HBC 1.0.7 or higher)

[UTILIDAD] uLoader v5.1D (Emulacion saves, DLC, Wiiware) (681 de 690) @ ElOtroLado.net Wii Softmods
uLoader 5.1 + cIOS installer 5.1 + source codes = http://mods.elotrolado.net/~hermes/w...ader_v5.1D.rar
DOWNLOAD HERE - http://mods.elotrolado.net/~hermes/w...ader_v5.1D.rar
Use this for wifi/network install (your wii is connected to the internet), download from the link above, unzip the rar, look in the apps folder, copy the cios_installer folder to the apps folder of your Wii SD card. Ignore any reference, in the guide, to an ios folder, unless you create your own, for offline install.
offline install
If your Wii is connected to the internet, via
Wifi, you do not need to complete this part.
You still need to download the installer from the link above.
First, you will need NUS Downloader
Download - HERE
Source - nusdownloader - Project Hosting on Google Code
If you need instructions about the use of NUSD then look here - http://www.wiihacks.com/recommended-...ownloader.html
Now, download the following IOS's.
IOS60 v6174
IOS37 v3869
IOS38 v3867
IOS57 v5661
DO NOT select the box that says pack as wad.
Now, you need to create a folder called ios and place the 4 downloaded folders in to it. It should look like this.
http://www.wiihacks.com/members/stom...es-5-1-002.JPG
If you do not see an image here then
refresh/reload this page with your browser.
Now, copy the ios folder to the root of your Wii SD card. You are now ready do do an offline install of Hermes cIOS v5.1. If you do not have the ios folder on the root of your Wii SD card the Hermes v5.1 installer will look for a wifi connection.
Installation
I have changed this guide to install the IOS's on an individual basis, the previous
install guide made the user install all of the IOS's.
- Unplug any GameCube memory card or controller you may have plugged in.
- Remove any disc that may be in the disc drive.
- Unplug any USB storage device that may be plugged in.
- Open homebrew Channel and select the cIOS installer.
- Select IOS249 for install, press the "A" button.
To install IOS202

- Select IOS base, IOS 60, press the "A" button, wait for download.

- Select IOS base, IOS 38 (IOS38 is the only option), press the "A" button.
- Press the "1" button to install
- When completed, the Homebrew Channel will reboot.
To install IOS223

- Press the "1" button to install.
- When completed, the Homebrew Channel will reboot.

Do not install Hermes IOS222/223 v5 and expect it to perform like Hermes IOS222/223 v4.
If there was an error installing an IOS and you received an error,
you may have to use anytitle deleter to remove the IOS that gave an error
and then reinstall it. >> Never delete an IOS lower than IOS200 <<
How to change the cIOS a game uses to load
So you have a game that loads to a black screen, and you have read that it needs to use a certain cIOS to load.
1. Using the Wiimote, put the pointer on the game and press "A"
2. Enter the game settings screen (CFG users press "1")
3. Find the IOS setting and change it to the required IOS for that game.
4. Save your settings. (CFG users press "2")
5. now play your game.Incomplete list of games that need hermes
This is for those that can not (or do not) use cIOSx rev20 to load games. This is for those that have IOS249 installed from cIOS rev17 or earlier, or have cIOS rev19/20 [base of 38]. Here I will try to keep a list of games that can use hermes to load when IOS249 doesn't work.
All Guitar Hero games......................................IOS223 v4
All Rock Band games........................................IOS223 v4
All Singing games that use a mic.......................IOS223 v4
Call of Duty - Black Ops....................................IOS224 v5.1
Def Jam Rap Star............................................IOS224 v5.1
Donkey Kong Country Returns............................IOS223 v4
Grease (for microphone compatibility).................IOS224 v5.1
When I install a game, I first try to load the game with IOS249. If I get a black screen, then I will try IOS223 v4. If that fails I will then try IOS224 v5.1. If that fails then I will look for a solution HERE as there may be an alternate dol required to boot the game. Some older games just will not load from a usb hdd. All games will boot with the use of 3 cIOS's
- cIOS38 rev17
- IOS223 v4
- IOS224 v5.1
If I were going to use a FAT32 partition for my Wii games, then I would use IOS222 v4 to load the USB Loader.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
All my testing was done with USB Loader CFG, I keep it updated to the
latest version.
Tested Guitar Hero 5 with IOS222 - got the black screen (using this guide).
Tested Guitar Hero 5 with IOS223 - boots normally (using this guide).
Tested Guitar Hero World Tour with IOS223 - black screen (using this guide).
Set IOS249 to boot this game.
Band Hero has random freezing/locking up, I noticed that after playing a song
sometimes the game locks up. Haven't noticed this with GH5. I will be reinstalling
Hermes cIOS v4, games locking up are a no go with my Wii.
Grease uses IOS224 (base of 57) to recognize the microphone.
The FAT version of USB Loader CFG will use IOS222 by default, so if it's not
working make sure you have IOS222 v4 installed.
As of now, Neogamma does not support IOS222 or IOS223, and probably
never will.
Some members will still do it, so here it is again, remember it
~~~ Never delete or remove an IOS lower than IOS200 ~~~
