I have a brand new hard disk drive from western digital 500GB my passport, but it is usb3 with support usb2 and usb1,1. When I try to load backup games from any loader with the newest ios for usb support, it doesn’t recognize the hdd.
Does anyone else have that problem or it is just me?
My pc doesn’t support usb3 and it works perfectly with the hdd, but wii not. Any help please….

Is this sort of like a "I didn't bother to check the compatibility list" remark? A compatibility list exists for a reason (although by no means is it complete).

Nightstah, it is not “I didn't bother to check the compatibility list".
My primary hdd for Wii back ups is on the compatibility list and it works perfectly for more than a year.
The new passport hdd was for my laptop only, but I said, “ok lets try this one too!”
The question was about the ability to recognize a usb3 hdd compatible with usb2.
As you know the usb2 my passport is compatible (it is on the list), and the new one (my passport with usb3 support) uses the same driver for usb2 compatibility and doesn’t work.
So I was thinking … windows runs a sub routine to see witch driver it will use (the usb3 or usb2) and probably the mod-ios doesn’t do that.
All new hdd external drives now are usb3, so maybe the developers have to do something similar to the mod-ios?
As you understand the point of my post is to initiate an idea for further development and not actually about an issue with the my new drive….

Does your passbook have that stupid WD smartware... That most likely the cause of your grief. Sometimes WD put that on the drive sometimes it's on the chip. It can block your hdd from working. Basically I had a 1.5th with it that didn't work but I have setup a few USB 3.0 drives that works with USB 2.0 just fine with USB loader GX. It was also a WD. Works with cios 249 r14/r19 and the new r21. (I have a few Wiis at the house to test things out)

Do I need the installer or can I just install the cIOSes with WADs from here -> http://www.wiihacks.com/other-faq-gu...cios-wads.html ?
I figured out I don't need the installer.

Hi! There is such a wealth of information here that it's mindboggling! I thank you for all your hard work. I am totally confused by most of what you have written. I did what the instructions said and even when I change the IOS to mload 223 or mload 222, the microphone is still not being recognized. I don't get it?! What I DID notice, (and I don't know if affects anything,) but when I got to Cfg loader, global settings, the last line looks "suspicious". Here's what it says, and I am hoping someone can tell me if it's "normal" to have ?? for the IOS base or not. If not, what do I have to do to correct it.
FS: [sd: ntfs: ]
Loader Version: 62
IOS250 (r65535) [frag]
Base: IOS?? DI:57 mload v1.0 This is the one that I didn't know about the ISO??
Thanks for any help you can give me.
