Once you installed homebrew channel, did you do anything else in the way of softmoding your Wii? To me, it appears you do not have a cIOS installed.

You need to find out what version your system menu is and follow a guide that will softmod your Wii. To find out what version of the system menu you have, select the Wii icon in the lower left of the Wii menu, then select Wii settings and look in the upper right corner, that will be the system menu of your Wii, it may read like 4.1U. Take note of what it says, look in the tutorial section and find a guide that will softmod your particular system menu.

should i delete the homebrew channel that on there now? and it says 4.2

No, don't delete anythig, just pickup where you left off. If you have homebrew channel installed, then skip that part, since it is the first part of the tutorial.
Find the 4.2 guide by shadowsonic, that's a good guide to follow.
