hey guys, I'm new. Trying to dump some games through wifi with cIOS-DVD-Dumper_v1.2. Need some help installing it. I got the homebrew channel working, and from the first post it says i need custom ios249 for the dvd dumper to work. But i don't know where to start when trying to install custom ios249. I got the file ios249 boot.dol from the first post. Now what am i suppose to do with it? Can anyone give me some step by step instructions. Thanks guys.

    Agentmk,

I'm only a noob to all this as well. I was installing this yesterday, but somehow managed to slowly work my way through it. Anyhow, this should be a 'fool-proof' instruction on what you need to do:

Step 1. The custom ios249 installer
You have the boot.dol already as you mentioned). dol files can be run by placing it in a folder under \apps on your SD card (eg. inside \apps\ios249_installer\).

    Step 2. Dvd dumper
Similar to Step 1, place the relevant boot file for the dvd dumper in its own \apps folder (eg. \apps\dvd_dumper\).

Step 3. Running the Custom ios installer
When you run Homebrew the applications you copied onto the SD in steps 1 and 2 should come up as programmes that you can run. Run the ios249 installer and hopefully in a a short while you'll have the cios249 installed.

NOTE: I'd just like to say at this point that when I ran the ios249 custom installer it worked fine in the beginning, then at the end of the installation it started dumping random code on the screen and hung up on me!! I was crapping my pants that I had bricked my Wii. It was unresponsive so I had to unplug the Wii from the wall and restart. Luckily the Wii restarted fine and everything works normal. I'm not sure why it did this, may be it was a bad install but all seems ok so far! If I have any problems later, I'll probably delete the ios249 and try re-installing it... but I digress...

Step 4. Running wifi dvd dumper
Again in homebrew, run the dvd dumper application and it should work fine now.

    Step 5. Downloading the dvd
When the dumper starts, get the ip code it gived you on the screen and type it into any internet browser (eg. IE or Firefox) on your pc and the browser should show a simple text based page from your Wii with a few options for you to choose from. Basically the programme wants to know how many layers this disc has, so it knows what size / how to split up the iso. According to one of the other posts, since 99.99% of the games are on single layer, choose the single layer option (You may want to research how many layers your dvd is first. Up to you). Your browser should then automatically start downloading an .iso file.

Step 6. That's basically it. Once finished downloading, you just need to burn the .iso onto a dvd and you have a back up copy.

I made a backup of Medal of Honour last night. It took about 2.5 hours running at about 450kb/s. I burned it onto a dvd and it runs perfectly fine on my chipped Wii.

    I hope this helps you.

    have i got this right

i put the apps file on the sd card as per instructions, put alao the index.htm etc on to create the 'gui' style web page. started wiihttpd on home brew, nav'd to wii ip and can dump to my pc.

now, do i have to keep the files on the sd card so as to be able to use the wiihttpd app or is there a way to copy it to homebrew and save it on the wii console? possibly creating a channel????

i cannot see the apps file on the sd card in data management

detailed instructions would be good as i need to be methodical, mainly cos i'm a bit thick!!! lol!!!
