Hi everyone, i noticed a lot of people had problems playing games from their hard drives, so i thought of making this tutorial to clear things up a bit!
Make sure your Wii is softmodded and has the homebrew channel. if you have not yet softmodded your Wii then you need to follow these Tutorials:
click here for softmodding of 4.2 Wii's
Click Here For Softmodding of 3.1-4.1 Wii's
By now your Wii should be Softmodded.
Now for Step 2 :
Check if your HDD is compatible and make sure it works. For compatability list Click Here
Now Step 3:
Get your App to boot your games, i personally prefer Wiiflow, i have attached WiiFlow below. When you download the app you, place it in the apps folder on the root of your SD card so the homebrew channel can see it.
If you haven't already, you need to download WBFS Manager, which you use to put the downloaded games onto your hard disk. You can download it here
Once you are all set connect your hard disk to your Wii, open the Homebrew Channel and boot WiiFlow, by you should see the games that you have put on you Hard Disk, then Play away! and remember to turn the 002 error fix on!
If you have any problems reply below and i will try and help you, if an error occured while you were doing something, open the error index.
I am new to wii so my searching has been a bit limited, only since yesterday actually so if you don't mind I need to ask something. Tried looking around but still a bit overwhelmed I guess...
After doing everything on the guides, the usb loader GX crashes as soon as I turn on the HDD, so I ended up using wiiflow and so far the 2 games I have work.
My question is, how can I install wiiflow as a channel?
I have the sd card with the 3 folders in it (apps,WAD, wiiflow) and I thought I could somehow install through the HBC since the wad file is in it but as soon as I start bootmii(i think that's what I am supposed to do) the wii crashes...
I just like to use wiiflow as a channel since it is my son who will be playing mostly and I don't want him to mess with anything in HBC.
If you could point me to a how to install as a channel, I would appreciate it.
Thanks again all you guys for everything and I'll keep looking meanwhile.
Never mind, figured it out but now wiiflow starnight crashes...
Will go back to menu once I start it....
in order to have a wiiflow channel on the wii menu, u need to install a forwader WAD, i dont think there is one for wiiflow. but there is one for USB loader GX. tell me if you need it
moved to sbmit articles/tutorials section
Thanks for the reply. I actually got it working...
Downloaded the full version of wiiflow and it had many wads for channels, and it works now.
However as I said, I couldn't get GX to work for me. Once the HDD was detected it would crash. Wiiflow though worked without me having to do anything.
I would look into GX to see why it's not working but since I can do with wiiflow, I didn't bother.
Thanks again for the reply.
I just tryed to use your wiiFlow it jsut went black any Ideas?
Hey OP with your method does it requiere to have an sd card in the wii at all times, right?
