    Steps for what i did:
    - Position the infectus chip as close as possible to the NAND, right above a GND point (hole).
    - Use a VERY short and VERY thick GND wire (i used a thick piece of a desoldering wick) and solder it as close as possible between the GND point and the infectus.
    - Use as short as possible wires, excluding the Q wire which MUST be around 15cm (as erikie said).
    - Add additional GND wires to both GND points on the infectus, going to different places on the Wii.

All of this has actually been pointed out by others already. It must just be done VERY correctly it seems.
Now i can flash the NAND just fine.
I also have great success with Xavbox now, however, i only tried read/erase/erase verify/write/compare with 15 + 15 blocks, so i can't be 100% sure that it will work in all cases.
I did the actual programming with "Infectus NAND Flasher 1.03".

A big thanks to erikie for the tutorial & tips and a big thanks to you other guys for hints & tips!

Now bootmii shows up fine and i got the keys, however, since this wii was a full brick (bought used on auction), i have other issues to solve now..

    Thanks again!
Unbricking is a breeze, most of the times you only need to install the missing system IOS.
Just check in bootmii which sysmenu is installed and then run the wadmanager to install the correct sys ios.
Or check out what is missing with signcheck. It is almost never needed to run the formatter tool, use that only in a last resort!

Personally, I prefer running the formatter tool.... especially if i'm reselling the boards... then I know exactly what state its in and that its not got messed up files/apps/what ever on it. and the later versions of the nand formatter read and backup the settings.txt so it keeps the serial and all other unique information unlike the old versions.

4.1E from that post is missing IOS60 and one of the other files is corrupt, however im sure you are capable of replacing them or installing a different system menu version/IOS's. the important part is the formatter.elf which works fine from those rar's and as I said above, keeps the settings.txt and serial number.

    4.1e-Nand_Formatter.zip
    Should be fixed.

    @Bad_Ad84
What options does this give for settings.txt?
Can it only read from nand or is there another option?

It displays the existing serial number and asks if you want to use it (A/reset for yes).
Then asks if you want to use the whole setting.txt file (again a/reset for yes).

If you just press yes for serial and no for setting.txt it makes a default setting.txt (like old formatter did) and just inserts you serial (it also defaults to NTSC/U for region).
If you press yes to using whole setting.txt it keeps region/serial/etc.

It only reads this from nand, you cant put your own on the sd card for it to use.

When I just want to make sure a console is stock (ready to resell mobo/what ever) I just run it, yes to both then once its rebooted update from 4.1 disk. This keeps the serial number etc and has you back to stock 4.1 regardless of what the previous owner did. A lot easier than troubleshooting the Wii (as I don't care about the save games etc).

Before this version it was a case of replacing setting.txt manually after formatting.

    Hi

i have many wii consoles laying arround with some sort of full brick

i have succefully removed the nand and installed it on a tsop socket 48 with an infectus 2 chip.

i can dump the nands no problem

now i want to install bootmii to the first 8 blocks

what version is the best to install on what block for all wii's ?

also can anymone help me finding nand dumps PAL ( does region for the loaders even matter?)

or just send me the blocks that i need to replace 0-8 or just 3-4

This Wii was a real mess. Bootmii said unknown about system menu version.
All i know about this wii is that it was bricked from an unsuccessful attempt to downgrade from 4.2 to 3.2 or something similar.
I guess he or she had no idea what they where doing and messed it up very badly.
Any attempt i did to try to "restore" it failed.

Anyway, i changed & recompiled comex nand formatter so that it uses my own serial and settings and then i used the wad's from mauifrog's zip.
Next, i installed the complete 4.1 system with wad manager. Worked perfectly.
Now this Wii is completely "virgin" 4.1e with HBC.

Thanks again for all your help!
    You guys are the best!

im not sure how the rules are with posting parts of the NAND. If it gets the go ahead from the mods, I can upload a bunch of 0-7 dumps with boot1b and boot2 v2, v3 and v4 with bootmii installed.

You didnt need to do that, the version of the formatter in mauifrogs 4.1 formatter will read the serial from the Wii and use it when formatting.
