Tried to heat up both CPUs with hot air but no results yet...
Got the bootmii flash (after removing nand, reprogramming and replacing) but no picture output and no syncing of wii remotes.

One of them actually worked by just pushing down on hollywood, which is what lead me to believe it required a reflow, then tried it on the one i original was talking about in this thread and that worked too.

Also, personally I find removing and replacing the nand chips easier than soldering to the legs... and before I had my more expensive programmer, i wired up an infectus to a tsop48 socket so it didnt need to be in the wii at all.

if you change the chip, you still need the correct dump for that wii. just switching chips without reprogramming will not work.

Also, if you switch chips and do reprogram, you have bad block mapping to deal with. either way, long as the original chip is still working (i.e. you didnt kill it) its not worth the hassle of changing it.

thats the problem, the orginal was a hynic,
but it seems that the chip is dead, thats the reason i was asking if it is possible to switch,
i was wonder if there was chip information saved into the hollywood,
but what i was understanding from you it is possible to switch and re program the chip?

only if you have a working backup of the original chip....

you cant just reprogram a new chip without all the old data.

    Ok, new Wii, new situation

Korean Wii. User had it regionchanged to PAL and somehow managed to brick it by updating to 4.2USA. Serial LKM1007/ Hollywood 0814. So I figured I could use a bootmii fix. Dumped the first 8 blocks as usual, but had a few differences with my Bootmii 'rescue' blocks. Decided to flash it anyway, since I have no other choice, so what the heck Wrote and dumped again to verify. All good.

Hooked up the Wii and my fullhd tv (component cable) said 'Unsupported signal'. Odd. I then used a composite cable and I get all black/white snow and lines. Maybe something to do with the region ? Any idea how to fix this ? I already flashed it back to original, and it's still (Savemii says so) at 4.2USA. I doubt it is hardware related, since I don't have the strange video behaviour with the bricked nand blocks back in place.

Someone has a Korean bootmii nanddump (first 8 blocks only) I could borrow to try if the problem lies here ?

    Never mind !

It looks like this is a rev20 board : Marking next to SDslot : C/RVL-CPU-20. It appears (at least for Korea, that 814 is boot1c (or some kind of special boot1 altogether).

to erik : I you want the first 8 blocks of the nand to see for yourself, just let me know

just send the first blocks so I can see which boot1 is in the korean one.

also switching nand chips is no issue, as long as you have a vulnerable boot1 and the nand formatter. You can then install the wii from scratch

hook op the front of the wii with the blue led and see if it flashes or stays blue. I bet it stays blue so you get a strange signal. Have seen the same thing, also when not all the legs of the nand are properly connected or when having a short... 0814 should be boot1b according to an image I have seen from bushing as he bought one with 0817 and was still vulnerable... However with Korean Wiis nothing is for sure
