    Betwiin 1.0
    Win32OpenSSL-0_9_8l
    ActivePython 2.6.4.10
    Numpy 1.3
    Pycrypto 2.1

I'll try today on an Ubuntu machine, maybe that will work better

edit : now running on Ubuntu.. is it normal to look like it's hanging after Updating cluster f (block 1) .. never mind.. Ubuntu also dies on it

The problem was pebkac.. I was using the keys.bin I got from the bootmii dumps. But that's not correct as I learned. I need to open up Wiinand and load the bootmii dump and then extract nand-key and nand-hmac.
Both for the correct dump (to fix it) and the wrong dump. For the wrong dump I just put the keys.bin I had (the nand was not correct, 232 mb..) into a copy of the good nand. Then I could read it with Wiinand and extract the nand-key and nand-hmac.

    So, resuming :

input has : flash.bin (=good nand dump minus the keys part), nand-key of good dump, nand-hmac of good dump
output has : nand-key of bricked dump, nand-hmac of bricked dump

Running betwiin results in a new flash.bin in the output folder.

I then took the first 8 blocks from the bricked dump and put those in place of the first 8 blocks of the created flash.bin.
(Finally I added the keys.bin of the bricked dump to the created flash.bin. - not needed, only for bootmii restore, but since I only write 4096 blocks, the keys.bin is ignored anyway)

And now I have a good nand I can flash to the Wii nand and we'll all live happily ever after.. update tonight

    Thanks again so far

edit : and another update. Flashed the created nand to the Wii tonight, with no luck. The Wii turns on, drive works and all (blue flash on tray), I see a change in my television screen so 'something' is outputting (a lighter shade of black ), but no health screen.

So ok, I hooked up the other Infectus incl. usb part and the behavior is the same as with the other one when I press the D0-GND switch : first 0x4B4B, disconnect/connect, 0xFFFF, disconnect/connect, and the Hynix chip is recognized.

Anyway, it's now writing the nand again. If this doesn't work I give up. It was a nice exercise, but more than 15 hours of wrestling this damn board is getting the best of me...

Instead of editing the above post..

    It worked !

What did I do to make it work finally :

    - use 4 ground wires
    - long q wire (3-4 times longer than the other wires)
    - use D0-GND switch for half a second when turning on
    - using the new infectus + usb part
    - using Amoxiflash 0.5 on my Macbook Pro (OSX 10.5.7)

I got a lot of "Warning : ECC error in flash" messages, but I think it corrected them all because it erased the flash part and then programmed again.

Took about 2 hours for the entire flash (528MB).. and it worked

In retrospect I don't know what the failing factor was, maybe it was the Infectus itself, maybe it was my XP machine, maybe it was Amoxiflash (which is the program Nand Flasher is born out of.), maybe.... something else. Good thing is that it finally worked.

Thanks for all the good tips and help, Erik, really appreciate it !

Ive got a wii that is bricked, wasnt softmodded. so first I tried swapping the BT module, no good. Ive took the nand chip off the board and reprogrammed the first 7 blocks from a compatible nanddump that already had bootmii installed. now the wii gives the blue flashing dvd light, indicating bootmii is working.

However, I still have no video output at all. also, when i plug in the power, the LED goes straight to orange, not red and will go back to orange if i turn the console off.

Any ideas? First Wii ive came across ive not been able to fix with ease.

Please note, ive fixed many wiis, have hundreds and hundreds in equipment including a 795 programmer and 1500 BGA station so im not a newb. Just looking to see if anyone has ran across something similar or has something to attempt.

try an easy thing, happened to me too a couple of times. Think your composite is busted, try the component output.

I think your wii was not bricked at all but has a video signal problem. As bootmii always sends out a signal it should display something. Did you try any other type of output cables to see if bootmii comes up? Can't believe the SD slot is bad so bootmii can't be read from the sd card

I agree that it was probably never bricked (in the software sense at least) and agree with video issues.

I will test composite cable later, SD slot seems to be working as i get the flashes without it inserted, but dont when files are on the card and its inserted which would imply bootmii is loading and the pins do not look bent (i.e shorting out), but taobaodao.com sell replacement SD slot if that was an issue

Posting here is my last attempt before reflowing the graphics chip (some googling shows at least one person has had similar issues to xbox gpu)

I think your Hollywood is not the issue but the small chip underneath the capacitors at the end of the board. That is the graphics / sound encoder.
If you take one from a bricked un fixable (read new) board and try that on your bricked one it could work.

Still the blue light does not flash when you use an SD card that cannot be read properly by the wii. Try another card first just in case.
