If you are getting a bigger drive, then just note that the same 32GB partition for FAT32 is plenty, leaving max room for more Wii games

    USB HDD Games and Mii

Softmod successfully applied on my Wii and I can play games from USB HDD. But I can not select any Mii characters while starting the USB HDD Games.

Is that normal? or Is there any solution or trick for that?

    Thanks in advance...

Thanks for the guide dude. My modded Wii had developed a fault (not reading discs) and the homebrew + HDD loader has bought life back in to it. Great work

allright I just finished modding my wii with the 3.1-4.1 softmod
    what do i do next?
Do I still need to go to cIOS38rev14installer?
because i already went to the cIOS38r17installer but with ios36.
i tried to follow a tut and the said that I need to load cIOS38r14installer with Ios 249. What do I do now?

thanks, i thought i was stuck because i couldnt find a easeus for 64 bit but i didnt even realize i could partition from my own laptop oops,
now i have one more question i left about 50GB to format as FAT32
do i simply format it as Fat 32 and copy whatever is on my SD card to the newly formatted 50 GB on the Wii HDD?
i think this is what i am supposed to do and then i will have no more need for a sd? thanks in advance

But please, be very careful, I have known a few peeps format the wrong item, and I charge a good hefty fee for data retrieval

Try using it to delete then format your partition, if it fails then we need to do some disk checking as your hard disk might have a failure or too mnay bad blocks.
thank you for the link, FAT32Formatter worked for me, the swiss one didnt support windows vista

so vista users beware the easeus wont work (unless someone found a 64 bit compatable version)
BUT... the system menu formatter will work to partition but will not format to FAT32 only option will be exFAT

so now im gonna copy my sd card files to my Wii HDD FAT32 partition and hope i will be sd free and playying my ISO's that have been WBFS Manager 3.0 converted to take up less space

whew, no one said it was gonna be easy

i guess one more thing for me to ask is:
how do i ensure that the FAT32 partition is the 1st or primary (or whatever it needs to be) when i plug the Wii HDD into the Wii?
i guess i need a little more forum hunting

Using the updated cIOS38rev17 is fine and will have installed the cIOS in the IOS249 slot. When you use a loader, there should be a line on the screen identifying the IOS as IOS249rev17.

If you successfully completed the softmod, you will see in this guide a directive to download USB Loader GX and WBFS Manager. Either use the links in this guide or in the Optional section of Dogeggs' Tutorial and then follow this guide.
