Try deleting the USB Loader GX's main configuration file-it will recreate itself when you reboot USB Loader GX. The configuration file may have been updated for your friend's Wii.

    Hi gen3sf,
I want to clarify something before I continue with this part of softmoding. Solving the problems become, in some way, more interesting than the actual gaming hahaha!
Although I have original Metroid prime trilogy and Sam&Max - season one discs I want desperately to boot them from USB disc. Also Super Smash Bros Brawl has become a challenge and not to mention Beatles, Rock Band 2 and GH.
OMG, Wii is wonderfull piece of hardware!!!
Installing hermes cIOS is more then necessary so can You advise me, please, what's solution is better for me: hermes through GX or like uLoader?
If uLoader disable IOS249 does it affects on GX compatibility with other games?
    Thanks in advance for replay!

@trevor-the NSMB game-check this guide HERE, you might need to set the 002 fix to ON and are you using the unpatched version? Anyway, offtopic for this thread-please read through the NSMB game guide.Good Luck.

002 fix worked fine. Many thanks

    USB Loaders

So I got my HDD formatted and loaded two games using WBFS for Mac osx. I installed the usb loader and hermes on the wii. When I try to load the games from Neogamma it says loading game but nothing happens. When I try to load from the USB Loader GX the screen goes blank and again nothing happens. In both cases I have to restart the wii.

I'm running v4.1 system menu and have a WD 1tb HDD.
I haven't tried using any other loaders but am currently downloading some.
I also have not yet tried loading the games from disk but can't see either option working better. Any ideas?

Thanks much, I really appreciate the help.

Update: Games ripped to a DVD-R and then loaded onto the drive through the wii work fine. At this point i'm thinking its an issue of when I load them onto the HDD using WBFS manager for mac osx. Can't figure out why that would be.

@hawkwind- global FORCE NTSC settings are available on both WiiFlow, your first choice, and USB Loader GX (I already mentioned that).

For WiiFlow: Hover your WiiMote near the bottom of the splash screen and you will see some icons show up. Select the app settings icon (the icon with the 2 gears, just like for USB Loader GX). The page you want is page 5 of 6-change the Video Mode to NTSC; while you're there also change 002 fiox to ON.

USB Loader GX: go to Settings (icon with 2 gears) and select the Game Load option. Again change to FORCE NTSC.

Some loaders have the option as FORCE to CONSOLE and that's OK, too-again you want the video output to be that of your Wii not the out-of-region disc.

Good luck and I hope you and the kids all enjoy the Wii.

Hi Mirkec-hope you are well. I agree, real life mysteries and puzzles are more fun than the artificial mysteries and puzzles of the games.

I recommend you install the Hermes IOS222/223 and also install a few USB Loaders, including uLoader. That's what a lot of the moderators do-partly so we can go look at the loader and help folks, but also some games just seem to work better with one loader over another. Just play with the loaders and try them out with your various games.

I'm not sure about the disabling of IOS249, but would hope that uLoader disables IOS249 only while uLoader is active. At least I hope so.

I'm fine, thank you. I hope that you are also good.
Now, I'm reading that cios 38 rev 17 is out. Hope that will be better than rev 15 and 16 so, in the future, maybe we will finaly update rev 14.
But, let's stay on thread theme. I think that I will first install uLoader that need Hermes cIOS 222/223. If I understood well there is no need for partialy installing and using them over GX. Or not!?
Belive me, I'm reading, searching and learning so much before anything I take so I need to be careful.
One, maybe stupid question, what is the difference between cIOS installers and the actual cIOS files? Something confuses me about that

    USB HDD Problem

Hello, I know this might be a stupid question but I searched all over and I couldn't find an answer. I follow this great guide. I formatted my external hard drive and partition it (WD 200 gb). Everything with fine. I plugged my external into the wii and I homebrew to get to usb loader. It show the game on there but it wouldn't play I kept getting a black screen, then I would reboot the wii and try again something. So I went back and read the readme for usb loader gx, I forget to install the wad files so I did that. After I did that the usb app is on the home screen so I click it and it said that my drive needed to be formatted or partition so I pressed format. Now I can't get my pc to recognize my external drive. Is there something I can do to fix that or do I have to buy other external?

    Thanks

As NeoGamma works, we know that your cIOS has been installed and is useable. NOw we are left with USB Loader GX or the HDD. If you installed USB Loader GX as a channel wad, try is as a HBC app-install a .dol version, create a folder named USB Loader GXv whatever-copy the .dol file from HERE. Rename the .dol file to boot.dol, place inside your new USBLOaderGX folder and put the folder inside the Apps folder on the SD card:SD:\Apps\USBLoaderGX\boot.dol. Go to HBC and run the USBLOaderGX app.

If the WD USB HDD was originally identified as being for Mac use, look at the partitions-sometimes the Mac HDDs have a reserved 1st partition. THe WBFS partition needs not only to be primary and active, but it needs to be the first partition seen by the Wii.
