@perkoff - were you installing via the Wii Drive or WBFS Manager? If WBFS Mgr-is the right right version for your PC?

@Olly - I really don't know. As I mentioned before, I don't see a problem that I can address-it looks like you have cIOS installed, that HDD is known to be compatible, and I guess you must ave tried all the USB loaders by now. The key is the cIOS, if you want rather than remove everything. Download and install AnyTitleDeleter-be very careful with your button presses. Locate and delete IOS249. Then go back to dogeggs; tutorial-redownload the softmod pack and redo Step 3D and 5D. Then try again with all fingers and toes crossed for luck.

    Hi again,

Did you change the path for the cover art? Downloading to USB partition or SD card if SD card-is there enough room for the files? Are the folders that are ID'ed in the path really there?

There is another file format that has the extension .ciso where the c stands for compressed; is that the file format you are working with? If so, WBFS Mgr does not recognized the .ciso file format. WBFS Intelligent GUI and ncWBFSTools are two variants of WBFS Mgr that can recognize the ciso file format.
Perhaps the file is compromised then.... Both files are .iso format and are recognized by WBFS Mgr.

They show up in USB Loader GX among my other 15 games that I have ripped (and are working), but when I tried loading Excitebots, it just returns me to the system menu.

I'm currently downloading a different version of same game, so I'll see how that works and go from there.

    Thanks for the reply

You apparently have one of the newer Wiis? The ones that have problems with both the D3-2 chip so a DVD backup can;t be read and also can't install loaders as channel wads. That's what I think I see going back through the posts. So, install the HBC version of cfg USB Loader-right now it seems to be doing better for some of the troublesome Wiis. Don't use Waninkoko's USB/SD Loader-it's too old. The more updated USB Loaders are USB Loader GX and cfg USB Loader. Right now-for you-go with cfg. Link provided at end of tutorial. Use the folder with the boot.dol in it.

Edit-I just re=read your NeoGamma post-doesn;t read like you started NeoGamma and then loaded the disc-if you had, the disc would not have loaded the the normal disc channel. So, key question, do your loaders load up and display IOS249rev14 on the screen? If so, then you have installed cIOS successfully. The issue then looks more the cfg USB Loader should be given a try-in the boot.dol version, first.
No, the only thing I see when I load the app from homebrew (isoloader app) is the green on the bottom and the isoloader graphic....and when I check through my SD from the softmod & the files here, I don't see ISO249 in my wad files or apps....i see 1036 rev14 installer/updater & the hermes222 installer...

    Okay,

So I've downloaded and moved the second Excitebots ISO onto my HDD, booted up USB Loader GX, and it doesnt work either.

I've noticed that when a game is going to work the music plays during the spinning disc screen. It doesn't for Excitebots.

    Any suggestions?

Other people are reporting success with this particular file, but maybe its something to do with mine being a 4.2U ?

Did you originally softmod following Dogeggs's 3.1-4.1 softmod tutorial? If so, re-do Step 3, I don;t think you successfully completed that step. cIOS38rev14 will install a custom IOS in the 249 slot that is used by a number of homebrew apps including the loaders. The terminology seen in the loaders is usually IOS249rev14-meaning that you ran Step 3 successfully.

Sorry, because other games work, that means your softmod and your USB HDD installs are all good. If you are using a compressed ISO of that game, I think the partition with the IOS info might not be there for you to find out if you just need to install an IOS for it. For future reference: http://www.wiihacks.com/recommended-...s-usb-hdd.html. For games not on the list-look at Post 2 to find out how to ID the needed IOS used to load a game.

Yes, I used his tute for softmodding 3.1-4.1 and I read it three times through then printed out and did each step meticulously. damn. I should mention I didn't choose to install preloader and I don't have a large enough SD to back up nand (not that I could b/c on the 4.0u, you can only install bootmii as IOS not boot2). I guess I'll give'er another go....from step 3. I'll let you know how I make out....
Oh, is there a way to check for IOS249 before I do all this or is it not that big of a deal to re-do/overwrite everything?
    Thanks!

DrPants that WBFS tool for MAC is just awesome! I had not been around the forums for quite some time (work just doesn't let me!) and the last thing I was trying to find was one tool that could do what that one does. Thanks!

Also, I'm going to try cfg loader this time around. So I have some n00bish Q&A for ya....
Do I need to uninstall the loader gx and if so, how do I do that. I've already uninstalled the forwarder & channel wads for it.
Also, when I dl the cfg files, there's a folder to copy to sd but also a boot.dol file...do I need to do anything with this or just copy the folder?
Do I need hermes for this or just the IOS249 that will be there upon re-completion of step 3?
Lastly, can I just install the cfg loader over the other safely?
    THANKS!!
