i have an issue where it might just be that the hard drive is not compatible and this if this the case then i'll post it in the correct forum, however it may just be me.

I softmodded the wii correctly and it runs using an old hard drive I have but i recently bought a Prestige Portable Hard Drive SuperSpeed USB 3.0 3.0/2.0 USB Compatible 500GB. Now everything is fine and my wii recognises that a hard drive is there but when I'm asked to select the partition I want to use i select the only one available and then loads a blank white screen (indicating there are no games on the hard drive).

Is this because the hard drive is not compatible or i've done something wrong?

Try using WiiBackup Manager. Plug both drives into your pc and set drive 1 to be your old drive and drive 2 to be your new drive. Select the games you want to transfer and then copy them over. See if that helps.

    Hi all,

It's been ages since I lost came here, but my son has forced me into asking for help.

    Better give some info first:
Wii v 3.2 (if i remember correctly) using dogeggs guide, upgraded to 4.0 and then to 4.1.
priiloader installed (all updates are blocked) plus a couple of other items.
    bootmii as Bootii
recently updated cfg from 5.6 to the latest v7.0 (wow, what a surprise, compared to the old version)
All games are ran from an external 3.5 HD and all disc's are installed via CFG or sometimes if I have time "wii backup manager"
during the last couple of years only had to throw in a couple of updates mainly for iplayer, shopping channel, and a couple of games to get them working such as Black Op2 ect...

Now at this point in time, apart from having to adjust games from "Auto" and change to correct Cios 222 223 224 or whatever is required, I have no problems apart from one little niggle, and I was hoping someone can throw some light on the subject.

It concerns "Super Mario Galaxy 2" and one certain point in the game, Bowser Jr's "Fearsome Flotilla, I think it's world 3 and 4, The game runs fine all except this one part where it locks up and freezes constantly in the same place, .... no where else just this one single place, and I wondered if anyone has had the same problem, (I am wondering if it is because cheats are on), could this cause the lockup, my son says that it only locks up when he falls and dies.
If it is the cheats why wouldn't it lock up in other places as well.
any help would be appreciated chaps, if only to give my earhole some rest..... lol

    thanks all
    sadsack

If you haven't already, update your cIOSes using the anywii guide. Should take 10 minutes tops. This will allow Auto to work w/ running your games. Try running SMG2 without cheats enabled.

    Thanks for the help Blu,
But can I ask just one question, ---- why do I need to update my CIOS's,..... I understand this may seem an unusual question, but are there any particular CIOS's that get CFG to work on Auto,.... It does seem strange, because my backup that I made of CFG using the old version works perfectly fine with no adjustments necessary.
I must agree with you on the Cheat hack, (weird how it only freezes in one place though, can't work that one out).
    Cheers BluPhant,

    sadsack..

Actually this guide is a bit dated. We currently recommend formatting to FAT32 and using one of the apps in the guide located HERE.
