OK, I understood that some other loaders could do this, but wasn't that GX could, which is why I thought it might be better to change the region before transferring it to the HD, but if I can set something for each game, that is saved, that will make it run as PAL (and not try and download NTSC updates) that'll be fine.

Only thing I changed was to format the drive to FAT32. It hadn't worked previously because drive was NTFS.

Bear in mind that with FAT32, you cannot have files greater than 4Gb in size. Most wbfs converted files are less than this, but not all. Some USB loaders can compensate by using split files.

my HDD is already in FAT32 format

but my Dir structure for my HDD is

    W:WBFS
    W:apps
    W:usb loader
    W:hacks-hash
    W:USBLoaderCFG.dol

i wonder if its correct or do i need to make a folder to put all the files from my SD card?btw W: is the Driveletter for my HDD

    thanx

Put wbfs in lowercase. Also, the file structure beneath wbfs is very tightly defined. For example:

    \wbfs\WiiFitPlus(EU -P) [RFPP01]\RFPP01.wbfs

I don't know if this is the right place to post my problem but any Ad may move this to the right thread.
Well I have softmoded my wii yesterday using the guide and everything was perfect...
On my HDD I have a couple of games like wii play, smurf dance party, fifa 12 and the wii music. Everything is playing without a problem exept the wii music, is says (using the CGF) that

    IOS(248)
    IOS releoad: blocked
    Returned (ret:-1)

and the game never loads... any suggestions?

First of All thanks for the guide. I however am stuck.

I am using Mac Lion and I formatted my HDD with 3 partitions. I used USB Configurable Loader I was able to partition to WBFS and the other two are FAT and MAC.

My mac did see the WBFS partition on one occasion but now I can't see it. I'm using Wii Backup Fusion to try to send .iso or wbfs formatted backup to the HDD.

The challenge here really is finding a current best practice using mac to get backups on the hdd. I would like to maintain use of the HDD for my computer files too (thus my attempt to partition).

Thank you in advance for any help.

I have a computer, so I can't confirm this, but I believe Backup Fusion supports WBFS files. As such, my recommendation (particulatly because you wish you use the drive for your Mac) is to NOT use a WBFS partition. Use a FAT32 partition and after you convert your ISO images to WBFS, I'd bet they'll mostly be well below the 4Gb file size limit imposed by FAT32. I believe Macs can see FAT32 natively.

    Hope this helps.

    Question I need some help

Hi, im kinda new to the forums. I've done softmoding in the past, and had another HDD formated and working by following wiihacks tutorials. Well, recently I got this new HDD, a Seagate Expansion Portable ST905004EXA101-RK 500GB (checked the compatibility list, and it's there). I followed the steps in the tutorial, but when it comes to LOADING the unformatted partition in WBFS 3.0.1, I get the following message: "Error occurred while loading drive. Make sure the drive is not in use or open and that it has been formatted to WBFS format."

Furthermore, as I click "okay" in the error message box, I tried to simply click FORMAT for the said partition. I got: "An error occured while attempting to format the drive." Now, I have no idea how to solve this. Below is a screenshot of my Computer Management window:

I am using Windows 7 Ultimate, x64 bits. I hope this is all good information!

    Thanks in advance guys!
