No way to tell without actually trying? Is there a specific enclosure that is recommended that's pretty affordable (don't really want to spend more than 20-$30.

    Thanks in advanced for the help.
    I wish I knew. I guess it is part of the art and not the science of modding. Not all Wiis seem to act identically and the hard drive support is a feature not intended by Nintendo. We see such oddities as the Western Digital external USB HDD line-the 320 and 500GB My Passport works just fine, the 1TB powered models work fine and yet the 250 and 640GB models have problems with no differences that are evident, at least publically available that seem to explain the problems. Bottomline-for the best chance at a hassle-free mod experience is to follow the recommendations.

    However, financial realities intrude. You can either take a chance on a good quality enclosure for that internal HDD or, if money is really a problem, consider a high quality flash drive (within your $20-30 budget) that is known to be compatible. While the flash drives have more limited space, most folks really only play a few games at a time anyway. Good luck.

    Most likely, the change of HDD required a change of USB Loader configuration file. Locate the USB Loader GX configuration file either on your SD card or the FAT32 partition of your HDD-where ever you put it. Delete the config file and now run USB Loader GX, the config file will be re-created and should work now (fingers crossed).

    If no joy, uninstall that previously working revision of USB Loader GX, re-download and try again. You can also try a different revision if that still fails and then ultimately a different USB Loader can be tried. The fact that NeoGamma works is hopeful that at least one of the USB Loaders should be able to use that new HDD.

    Hey guys I seem to have a problem with the usbloadergx app.

    I added a few isos onto the wbfs partioned hard drive and they came up on the app when I connected the HD to my wii. Now however these games are NOT coming up but according to the manager are on my HD. Does anybody know why this is happening?

    My WII currently has the WiiKey 2 on it. I do not want to upgrade to 4.3 and am in the process of softmodding it, but it has issues playing all of my disks. As an alternative I want to have the option of loading from USB, maybe as primary function if it works as good as I envision... Anyhow... the title says "Loading and Playing Wii Backup Games from USB HDD (softmod only)" ...softmod only?!? Will I have issues with my Wiikey 2 being installed? Want to sort that out before I begin...

    @superglonz,
    you shouldn't have any issues as you can have a hardmod and softmod working at same time.I have same on my Wii.

    This tends to occur under these circumstances:

    1. The hard drive is either not set as ACTIVE and Primary, or it is not compatible in a stable manner;

    2. Either the revision of USB Loader GX is buggy or its configuration file has become corrupted. The most recent stable and functional revision of USB Loader GX is rev 921. If you are using the most recent revision, don't trash it yet. Rather, delete the configuration file from either the SD card the FAT32 partition of the HDD where you placed it and restart USB Loader GX, the configuration file will re-create itself. You can also just try to reinstall from a new download-sometimes the download/install is at fault.

    This was even more exciting to see working than the GC Backup games on Neogamma!

    Thank You!

    Usb hdd

    I'll be purchasing an external USB HDD over Black Friday since that's when everything will be cheap. This is what I'm estimating, and I usually overestimate to be on the safer side. I'll probably need 200 games MAX in my lifetime. According to the post, I'm supposed to estimate 2.5 GB per game, but I'll estimate 4 GB for the safe side again. I also want to keep a lot of memory in for various school projects etc. Possibly 200 GB, since I mainly store Word and Powerpoint. 1 TB sounds good. I'm really confused on how to do this. Basically, I'm a n00b and don't even know the difference between partitioning and formatting. What should I do? Right now, I'm Guessing : 200 GB NTFS, 800 GB WBFS. Is this correct? I know I have to leave some space for FAT/FAT-32? Sorry for being so foolish. Can one of the mods tell me exactly what they would do in my situation ( I would prefer this over a reply of "It's your choice")

    Thanks Mates,
    BallazHall
