The Priiloader settings are often used for parent swith children for whom keeping them away from the Wii menu and HBC is desirable. I think using this would be more troublesome for you right now.

You can take a look at the setup, though HERE.
thanks for the reply, gen3sf. using a 4GB usb stick was just a trial. i can't wait to get a usb hdd to use for my backup games. with regards to parental control, i think i will study that more closely as i have an enthusiastic 5 year old here. i already told him not to touch the HBC and even the neogamma channel.

in previous posts, it was mentioned that users experience problems with the latest usb loader version. so, updating to this latest version is out of the picture at the moment. is that the case? what about the latest version of WBFS? is there any harm with updating to the latest WBFSManager 3.0.1 RTW x86?

thanks once again for this tutorial.. "...clicked" just pressed that Thanks button

Yes, you may want the Priiloader setting as described when you get your USB HDD setup; 5-year-olds may want to see what happens when they do something Daddy said not to. You may install the latest WBFS Mgr, shouldn't be a problem. If your version of USB Loader GX works, don't update without a good reason. The project team is very active and sometimes that means there are bad revs as that team experiments with something. The softmod tutorials on this site are generally conservative and stay with reasonably known to be stable and working versions of apps. I hope you and your son have a lot of fun with your Wii.

I have a mac. I'm not getting the WBFS manager, and maybe the formatting.
I did everything correct up to the "formatting the hard drive" step.
I downloaded the WBFS version for mac.
I thought I had the hard drive partitioned alright, but I cannot make anything show up in the WBFS manager.
I tried reformatting the drive again using EeZeEpEe's guide for formatting hard drives for WBFS on macs:
Where am I going wrong? What should I be seeing in the WBFS for Wii?

    USB Loader GX issues

Hello, I feel like a noob for posting but it appears I have no choice as I've been searching hours and hours for an answer to no avail!

This quest began when looking for answer on how best to get Monster Hunter 3 running and was directed to this thread for DVD users.

I have always used Neogamma to load games but after MH3, it seems USB loader GX is the way to go even for DVD users! I am unfortunately on system menu 4.2.

    My questions:

    1) Do you have to have something in the USB slot even if your using a backup game DVD?

    2) Is it unusual that when selecting Cios222 that my Wii freezes (though no black screen) on USB loader GX? I have tried merging IOS's with both Ciso222 and 223 but do not get an option to load via 223 on USBLGX!

    3) My MH3 works fine from Disc channel so should I even bother with USB loader GX, because it is the recommended way by wiihacks to run MH3! It also works fine with Neo Gamma and Cios19!

Any help would be greatly appreciated. This is my first ever post and I usually avoid asking questions because I follow all the guides but I'm stuck this time around!

I seem to have run into a problem.

I have a launch wii with system 4.2. Soft mod
Using wiiflow (used to use uloader) to play back ups. (both work fine so far)

I seem to be having a problem when I load up a game with a usb loader. For instance, when I load up Muramasa, I am given the option to use a game cube controller. When I plug it in and press A, nothing happens. I don't think my game cube controllers are being detected.

This also happens when I run brawl minus. I can use my GC controllers fine in normal brawl, but when I load up brawl minus, the GC controllers aren't detected. Before I modded my wii, I could use GC controllers in brawl minus.

In the homebrew channel, I can navigate with the GC controllers, but upon loading a game through usb loader, I lose GC controller function.

Here's what I've observed with GC controller use:
    -Play brawl from disc: ok.
-Play mario kart from disc: ok.
-Navigate bootmii and homebrew channel: ok
-Wii game back ups (with GC control option) played through usb loader(wiiflow and uloader): no detection
-Brawl minus loaded through Gecko OS in homebrew channel: no detection
-Brawl minus loaded through SD card hack (non homebrew hack) in brawl stage builder (uses Gecko OS): no detection

I believe that if I fix the usb loader game cube controller problem, it will also fix the brawl minus problem.
I can only assume this is IOS related.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

My MH3 didn't work correctly in usblgx but worked fine in another usb loader, so I dropped usblgx. Just stick to what's working for you.
Thanks Anubis...I should just get back to playing the game..lol! Atleast I can play it!

Still if anyone does answer my questions I may give them a go.

    Cheers!

Most of the USB Loaders require a compatible USB device be in the Wii USB port-part of the bootup check so even though one can play from disc or SD card using a USB loader, a USB device needs to be there or the loader will not complete. If your USB Loader GX rev is among the most recent, please try an earlier revision such as the one linked in this guide. Both the Wii and certain apps do not reward those who like to stay up-to-date by downloading and installing the latest versions; it is related to the nature of hacking. Find the versions that work and don't update until you have a need.

Several development teams, including the project team for USB Loader GX, are very active putting out many revisions sometimes many in a day. That also means occasional bad runs for revisions as the teams work out bugs, try new coding tools, etc. USB Loader GX rev 916 and 919 are known to be stable and appear to work with most games...as of yesterday.

@Anubis- try various revisions of USB Loader GX, I recall there was a run of revisions that did not recognize the GameCube controllers.
