    Mmmmmmmmthanks : )

Been at it for a handful of hours, but my friend pointed me in the right direction. I was having some problems with the partitioning (using Windows 7 and a 2TB HD) but my friend told me to "shrink" the volume, and that ended up working perfect!

    Thanks

Welcome back with your new acceptable username. Glad you got through the tutorial and are now free from having to get off the sofa to change game discs.

Pleasure to be back gen3sf, all this time away made me realize a lot of things. Although, it's somewhat disturbing how you knew I used a sofa as the preferred seating mechanism for the playing of my games...

    Can't format to WBFS

Ignore now solved, but for anyone else having a similar issue it was because there were some hidden files in the "System volume information" folder. (Even though I deleted the entire partition)
these files had locking handles, removed them with unlocker @ ccollomb.free.fr/unlocker/
then formated with WBFS manager, works fine now

Hi peeps, anyone any ideas on the following
Got an Iomega Select 500Gb external that wont format. (This is on the Wii external compatability list)
    Deleted old partition
Created NTFS partition with a drive letter assigned (Left unformatted)

Tried to format in WBFS Manager 3.0 & WiiBackupManager
Both instantly come up with a "An error occured whils attempting to format the drive"
    Thanks

Just wanted to say thanks for putting this tutorial together. I went through it and everything is up and running now. Thanks! If I had to make one suggestion on an area that needs to be improved, it would be in Step 2 of the Preparation section. I was a little confused about what to do if I wanted to use the forwarder as the instructions described what to do for the channel install but was vague for the forwarder install. It may seem obvious for the experienced, but as a noob I wasn't sure what had to be done. For the peeps like me, I would specifically state to copy the channel wad or the forwarder wad to the wad folder, and then to run the Wad Manager to install that file. Thanks again!

I do have one question related to the USB drive. If I have a large directory of wad files (Wiiware game wads), is the ONLY way to play them to copy those files to wad folder on my SD card? Since my SD card is only 2GB and the Wiiware titles are over that amount, I'm limited on what I can copy. Is there any way I could instead utilize my 500GB USB drive instead to store and play these Wiiware wad files?

Sinyk wrote a tutorial on Triiforce, which should help you run Wiiware titles from your USB storage. I, personally, know nothing about it; but I think this should answer any questions you should have.

    -Wii Menu 4.2U / DARKCORP v1.1 / BootMii as boot2 / Preloader v0.30-
    -USB HDD / Wiiflow 2.0 / Triiforce / VC Image-Pack / cIOS Wads-
    Support WiiHacks

@mod4life - to respond to your other comment. You could have copied the channel or forwarder wad to the root directory as well-one just needs to direct the Wad Manager where to go to look for the desired wad. Just like a PC-those wads could be anywhere on the SD card as long as you know where it is and can use the select and install function of the Wad Mgr. I didn't want to be so dogmatic and demand you put wads in the Wad folder, but left it to your discretion. Glad you are set up now and wiiLike2Hacks has provided the link for Triiforce. Also, don;t forget if you upfated your system menu to 4.1 following the softmod tutorial or are just just using a 4.x system menu, there is support for SDHC cards up to 32GB. Still, Triiforce is definitely worth your reading through the tutorial before deciding how to handle your enormous collection of WiiWare games.. Have fun with your Wii/HDD.
