Check on the compatibility list link in the tutorial. Good luck. Personally, I despise converting internal HDDs with enclosures and trying to get them to work with the Wii. I have seen too many problems-but you are certainly welcome to try. Best of luck to you.

I have a problem that I hope someone can help me with. I followed the "New 3.1-4.1 Softmod for ANY Wii"-guide and after that I did as it said in this guide (Loading and Playing Wii Backup Games from USB HDD).
And the games that I transferred to the HD from iso with my PC is working. Then I wanted to rip some of the games I have on discs to the HD with USB loader on my wii, the games that is original did work fine to put in to the HD, but when I try to put in any games that is from DVD-R it does not work, it says "Not a Wii Disc".
I know that the games on DVD-R is working because I can play them, although I have a chip in the Wii and that may be troublesome when I want to check whats wrong with the softmod :/

Im sorry if this has been asked before but it is soo much information on this site and I have been searching all night.

Edit: I also installed dvdx even thou it didnt say so in the guide but it doesnt work anyway.

    Hello,

I successfully installed the softmode on the Wii, without the Preloader {because I kept bricking it with the Preloader}. I'm also playing games off the HD/USB successful. I follow the steps to convert the harddrive but I don't see no where on this page, how to install the second folder, with the CIOS 222 INSTALLER V4, CIOS38R14 INSTALLER, AND USB LOADER GX. I'm I overlooking a step somewhere or was this process deleted. I need some step by step procedures to complete this last process.

So, I''m not the only one that don't see the final process. I thought it was just me. Did you setup your HardDrive and able to play your games successful? I was checking Youtube for a step by step process for the three programs but no luck. I don't want to continue and mess everything up, without some help.

What problem are you having with the installers? Are they not running? Do the apps not show in HBC or are you having a problem installing .wad files with Wad Manager. What second folder?

Most installers are apps, just like you used in the softmod process. App folders go into the App folder and .dol files not already renamed as boot.dol should be. Any wad files you wish to install, copy to the Wad folder and use Wad Manager to install. These steps are not covered in this tutorial as a softmod is required prior to this tutorial.

Any other problems, please provide sufficient data to ID problem source and any error messages.

DVDx coupled with MPlayer CE will allow your to play DVD movies but has nothing to do with playing games from the USB HDD.

Unknown why you cannot rip a game from a working DVD-R to the USB HDD. Should work, unknown why it isn't in your case. In fact sometimes when a game ISO doesn;t add to the WBFS drive well, that is what is done-burn to DVD and then rip using the Wii drive.
