Hi, Just a quick question to the people in the know, Rather than using an external hard drive, is there any way tou use an external dvd drive to load games. I am thinking of the new Wii's with the DVD Drives that won't read Backup discs.

    Cheers,

    CharlieRam

    At last :)

First off can I thank everyone that has tried to help me out,

I finally managed to get It working, this drive had been reported to be working
so I was thinking have I got a duff one.

I must have gone through the guide over and over again about 15 - 20 times, as you can see from my earlier step by step post, and some peoples comments It should be working.
I did the process one last time before I was ready to give up all together, I went into the Wii and reinstalled a few of the wads, doing a network Install, I then opened up neogamma and selected mount WBFS and the game I had loaded onto the drive showed up !!!!.
Just need to figure out how to get the covers on now, tried to down load them and they arn`t showing up.

    Thanks one again

I had the same as you decribed what ever the instruction format show.

I had load about 30+ games in WBFS Hdd and hook it up to the Wii and selected USB Loader it show nothing only white screen and it struck can not exit to anywhere have to shut the power off.

Now, guy what software do you short in wadfolder to root Sd has to install?
I seen only 2 files to sd root can install:

USB Loader GX r815 ULNR.wad and the one
    USB lOADER gx-Forwarder.wad

any idea to get my Hdd moving thanks
revision 815 wad will mount USB Loader GX as a channel. The forwarder wad establishes a channel, but does not itself open USB Loader GX. A forwarder points to the USB Loader GX folder in the Apps folder in the Root Directory of your SD card. If you installed the forwarder, but do not have the SD card in the slot or do not have USB Loader GX folder with a boot.dol file, there is nothing for the forwarder to do.

So the boot.dol inside USB Loader GX folder located in the Apps folder on the SD card can be either used through HBC or by installing the forwarder.wad file.

Congratulations on getting your USB HDD to finally work for you. Sounds a little like wrestling with window screens-you wrestle and wrestle-even actually dropping one 1 story down into the backyard; and then somehow, the screen just slips into position-how? I don't know. Enjoy your Wii.

Covers are a problem since Websites decided to go private and charge money for them. Better to download onto your PC-make sure you have them, then transfer to SD card or FAT partition.

Thanks for the info. I'm not sure it'll be worth the effort to "back up" a game from a DVD. It took over 30min for me to "install" Super Mario Galaxy onto USB-HD.

Usually per game it took about 2minutes closed to 3.

If you look, you will see that Wii Sports Resort has a lot of threads and posts. Don't choose a game that is hard to play from a backup.

    gen3sf / mimja:

I like to chime in as well. You are not the only one that is experiencing this problem. I am having the exact same problem. Any additional suggestions?

I have an external hdd: Western Digital 1.5TB Caviar Green Power and an Antec MX-100 Enclosure. Has a 10GB Fat partition, and remaining size is in WBFS (Primary)

Have 2 games downloaded now NSMB (NTSC-U ver) and Bleach (PAL) both games gives the black screen and reboots. Initially thought it was missing IOSes, but I have downloaded some other wiiware games that uses the same IOS and those run perfectly fine.

Used USBLoader GX r830 (initially tried r815) but both gave me the black screen/reboot. Neogamma 8 r7 after you mount the drive, it sees the games, but when you try and run the game it says something like Error Launch dvd (n).

Any suggestions on which one game is easy to play? I'll report back in a day after I try your suggested game.

Hi gen3, I extract the rar it has 2 folder one for pc and the other for SD.
I copy the sd folder to the root of SD and insert to the Wii slot then go to
homebrew channel, wadManager, Wii sd slot search for the folder USB Loader
    GX show all these.

    apps
    codes
    config
    images
    txtcodes
    Wad

Those 5 folders at the top it block only one Wad that I can installed as I decribe at the previous posted.
How is that happen can not go through installed.
