Is it possible to use a 2nd partition as a different format to create a backup for my computer? If so Fat or NTFS? I want to install a copy of Norton 360, but if it crashes my PC I don't want to have to reistall everything from the discs, that takes forever. Drive to drive is much more efficient.

You can do whatever you want with the second partition. As long as you leave the first one as is.

Yes. But keep in mind, that if you also would like to use the second partition for covers (which probably you would like to download in a future through Wii) you have to make this partition formatted as FAT32.

Ok I have a question about partitioning a hdd. I have a accomdata 1tb drive already formatted to wbfs and has over a 100 games on it (over 300 gigs) and it works great. My question is can I add a second FAT32 partition to the drive without having to backup my games and reformat the harddrive from scratch? I was wondering if I could use partition magic to shrink the current wbfs partition by like 50-100 gigs turning that space to unallocated space and then create and format that space to FAT32. Do you guys think that will work? I would like to put all my emulator games and wiiware games in this area of the hdd. Thanks for all the help guys you all are the best.

I'm having trouble setting two active partition on my 1.5TB Western Digital Essential HD.

As I understand correctly, the partition must be active for it to be read.

    Here are my partition.

Partition 1: 650 Gig Active, Primary, NTFS
Partition 2: 650 Gig None, Primary, NTFS
    Partition 3: 100 Gig None, Primary, FAT32

How can I set Parition 2: to active also? In EASEUS, it only allows me to set one active partition, not 2... What can I do to utilize two partitions?

Any help is appreciated. Thank you.

I woul like to know the same thing having over 100 games. I would like to use a second partition for gamecube, wiiware,vc games etc..

Could care less about images though as I would use the SD card for that.

Also for gamecube games are they scrubbed when put on the harddrive?

You can't mark 2 active partitions at the same time, and it makes sense if you think about it.

Windows boots from the active partition, so changing the active partition on your windows machine would change the boot partition, if there is no operating system on the now new active partition your PC will not boot. Even though you are not using it as a boot drive, it makes no difference to the amount of active partitions allowed on any one disk drive.

So, maybe you are not being clear enough on what you aim to achieve, you can change one of the NTFS partitions into a WBFS drive, use WBFS Manager to get the ISOs to that drive, or USB Loader will work if your Wii can read DVDRs, mark as active the FAT32 drive for everything HBC wise & for storing images for your USB loader, and using it for Triiforce & ROMS Emu etc, and thus leaving NTFS for your PC stuff.

Hth to help you think about what you aim to achieve and can let us know what you wish to do?
