thanks for your help. Although I did not have the three options when i clicked update, it just told me that no updates were available. However, after updating usb loader gx the options became available.

Hi there, thank you so much for this - I printed it out and sat in front of my tv and it worked like a charm!

Was wondering if I could possibly ask you a few questions:

Under 6b - I put my settings on Error 002 fix although I never got any pirate message. (not sure why I chose this at the time but for whatever reason that is what it's been on and all seems to work fine as far as I can tell. BUT, I'm wondering if maybe I should change this? Here's my reason for asking - I've got PAL, RF and NTSC games and so far as I can tell there isn't a pattern to this (whether it's just PAL games or NTSC, etc) but some games just make my remote dead and the screen goes black and I'm forced to power down the Wii. (none of these games are on the alt dol list-mostly kids games) Would you say it's most likely this is happening because some of those games may already have that fix built in and on those specific games I should try to use Anti002fix? Or might it be something else? (I am on 4.2U upgrade by Nintendo in case you need to know that). Maybe I should change this setting altogether to "NO"?

If I may ask another? About the themes - I chose two and downloaded them and got this error on both:

"failed to extract - unsupported format. Try to extract manually."

So I extracted them manually and stuck them in the folder where the RAR file was (sd://config/themes). Is that right and how do I chose it now in the USB Loader because I basically have to just "select it" rather than download it, right?

(BTW- I have to make a disclaimer-I'm a total noob at the Wii but am pretty techy but think I've done pretty well in the past week for someone who never played the Wii before and just decided one day to softmod it and start playing BUT if you are thinking "well, she obviously must have done this", don't (!) because I very well may not have. I followed Messie's 4.2 guide and then got all confused about the BootMii as IOS and the NAND part and sort of don't remember what I did from there - I don't even know if I installed the IOS202, 222, 223 as stated in the directions because I was starting to panic and get heart palpitations at that point. Amazingly enough, since then I have USB Loader GX as a forwarder and am playing everything off of that and so far my kids think I'm a big winner (until we start a game and the screen goes black and we have to start over - that's a bummer).

Another weird thing is that I'm getting an "IMET Header Wrong" error when I scroll through the games using the L/R arrows (when that disc is spinning in the middle of the screen and you can make it spin faster) but only some games. Again, no pattern on this - Cosmic Family, Lego Batman, Dewey's Adventure (NTSC-U), Where The Wild Things Are and Ninja Captains (PAL). I googled that error and I got some code on google that I couldn't really understand. Any ideas?

Thank you for getting to the end of this message!! Any suggestions would be very much appreciated. My OCD is taking over and this is driving me crazy.

OOH OOH OOH, one last thing please! I never put a preloader on. I would like to do what you do for your kids and when they hit the home key they go back to USB Loader Menu. If I install a preloader now so I can do that, is that ok? Will I screw up what I've done so far with the loader?

    Thank you again!!!

(using USB Loader GX vers 1.0 r815)

    Hi suezeeq12,
    1. The 002 fix is normal to be on for the majority of games, only a few will have anti, if you are getting black screen, you may have the IOS missing,
    check this link http://www.wiihacks.com/recommended-...ght=Tealc+game
    2. Sorry I've not used themes, try searching for related themes.
    3. "IMET Header Wrong" again don't know that, you'll have to search.
    4. You can download preloader 0.0r3 from the title in my sig. There is a later one r4, both I believe work with 4.2. Have you seen this, http://www.wiihacks.com/software-bac...ht=Loader+kids.
Preloader is a .dol so is loaded via HBC in the SD\apps directory. Make sure you have the Hacks.ini file in the root of you SD for your region.

Sorry for answering all your questions

Thanks so much for replying so quickly! I have checked out the IOS link and I do see that a lot of the games I have seem to need to use the same IOS and I don't know what IOSs I have installed so I think I can see that through DOP-IOS from what I read. Going to check into that tonight if I can.

I am getting really confused with IOS and CIOS and all this "same type" wording. I'm off to search for a glossary for now before I do anything!

Thank you again! Wow - you know this site like a fat kid knows cake.

I'm hoping I'm not totally way off with my thinking here but if I have a game that everyone says works on their IOS 55, does that assume I have that IOS and don't have to install it?

In other words, when I load a game up and start playing, does that IOS that it uses deposit itself where it's supposed to be? Maybe an example would be Animal Crossing and the IOS38 - would I not have that on my Wii until I played the original disk but once I played it I now have IOS38 and any other game that uses that IOS should play?

    I hope that isn't a ridiculous question.

wii comes with some ioses, depending on the sysmenu you are on. if a game requires a newer ios, it will ask you to update from a disk, or will blackscreen if it has been scrubbed and does not have an update. so you must install the latest ios it uses to make it play. (never update from a disk, or at all. best sysmenu is 4.1)

So if I had a game on my USB drive that my wasn't played in my Wii and I don't think I have the IOS for - where would I find that IOS and does it matter that I am using system menu 4.2?

Tealc gives a link to a couple IOSs but I haven't done anything with them because I'll admit it - I'm scared to do it until I know what the right way to go about it is.

The loader goes on your SD card like all other apps. If you have a channel for your loader you install as with all other channels by using wad manager.

The best is down to personal preference. Try a few and see which you like. USB loader GX, coverfloader, wiiflow to name but a few options.
Not really doing much Wii stuff these days.
