~ISSUE RESOLVED~ See Below for details
Like so many others, I get multiple errors when it comes to Step 2b; of which include:
fail to initialize network
It seems to error at different parts, but error nonetheless.
4.2U Wii, purchased the x-mas of release.
1 gb Kodak High Performance SD, or 1 gb Nintendo Power Saves SD, or 512 mb PNY Technologies SD
All SDs were formatted (not quick), to Fat32 with Default Allocation sizes
Wireless Connection (Tested) - 24connect is disabled
I've successfully hacked two other Wiis usually this guide, word for word. All Wii were identical in specs, early purchases, updated to 4.2U. What separated the Wii were solely the SD cards.
1st Wii - It was my own personal Wii, using the 1 gb Kodak. 2+ hrs of Step 2b, no success. I gave up on it.
2nd Wii - On the Nintendo Power Saves SD, on my boyfriend's Wii. Step 2b, NO ERRORS whatsoever, success first try. This was within 10 mins after I gave up on my first wii. Successful hack within 20 min. *thumbs up*
2nd Attempt on 1st Wii - So, after the second wii hacking perfectly, I figured the connection was fixed. I wired up my wii, the Kodak SD in place, Step 2b, still erred. I just kept trying over and over for about another hour, and with no changes to the network or router, randomly Step 2b succeeded. Successful hack within 15 min.
3rd Wii - This is my roommate's wii, using an old 512 mb PNY Tech. SD card.
Errors on Step 2b. each time, varies in errors. The furthest it has made it was to the Loading Contents of IOS36 v3351. I have tried over the past week at different times of day, etc etc... Hack in progress...
Now I've returned to here, hopefully to solve this issue that plagues what seems to be quite a few of us, with no answers to be found in search or Google.
In addition to all the connection solution attempts, I have also tried figure out how to install via SD (Downloaded w/ NUS Downloader). No success; I thought the files needed to be in the root folder for Dop-IOS to find it. Well, with that, I get the error that the files IOS36-64-v3351.wad and IOS36-64-v3351.wad.out.wad and not be OPENED.
Soooo, as soon as I can try again, I will be trying to load from USB, one of the working USB external hdds. Here's the alternative placement I'm going to use:
Wish me luck!! >.>
Kurto2021's post on page 93 is what lead me to an error-less install.
I went here and downloaded those 4 files...then installed using Trucha bug installer 1.1 that is located in the zip file on page 1...instead of using download from NUS I used SD card.....
I redid the IOS15 downgrade...then patched 36....then restored 15 and I was good
I downloaded those four files, placed them in the root of the SD, and loaded up Trucha Bug Restorer (Files provided by thread author, post #1) instead of DOP-IOS. I proceeded to use Trucha Bug Restorer to complete steps 2a and 2b AND 2c. I loaded all wads from SD, success. I continued on with the guide as normal. Successful hack #3.
