Wow, thank you so much
Wow, I got Wii for Christmas and up until about three days ago I wasn't even aware Wii was capable of being modded, let alone soft modded. I used to have a modded original xbox with an 80gb hd so I was kind of aware of the concept, but had someone do it for me didn't explain anything so didn't really know much about it.
I am a very skeptical kind of guy, and I often have the worst luck possible it feels like but after absorbing enough knowledge of just researching for 2 days from the information provided from these forums I was ready to tackle the task of soft modding my own Wii.
I read about 40 of the 55 pages on this topic alone just reading what errors other people got and how to work around them just in case I encountered them. Boy was I surprised how smooth it went. I carefully read every step and still managed to make mistakes just because I didn't do EXACTLY what it said, I maybe interpreted a word while reading a sentence so skipped a minor detail.. who knows.
The first problem I encountered was only a silly mistake because earlier today I reset my router so most of the settings were different and my network key to login was different, so it was only just because I had to make sure my wireless network settings were set properly.
The second problem I had was loading WAD manager, when it asked me what device for NAND emulation.. if I chose SD card I could not explore the SD card, so I had to choose 'disable' then choose SD card for some reason. I had no problems installing any of the wads or the cIOS.
The third problem I had was with Priiloader, the first time I went to version .3 and upon pressing + to install it I had some sort of a black screen with text, definitely froze my Wii up and said something about a dump. So i opened Priiloader .2 boot instead and it installed.. I then didn't realize I actually had to restart or turn off my Wii for the Wii to load up Priiloader (duh, im just a noob)
Other than that I had no trouble with anything, other than another black screen with white text freeze while I was using Homebrew Browser (not to be confused with Homebrew Channel for other noobs like myself out there) but haven't had it since.
Thank you SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO much for this easy slick guide.
My Wii is LU65 brand new and I accidently updated to 4.2U before finding out about Wii soft modding, have yet to test DVD backups mainly because most of the research I did said that with me having a newer Wii that it was unlikely that I would be able to do so.. although upon reading a post a few minutes ago I read someone bought a Wii a few days ago and it worked. So I'll test that soon. For now its time to game out a bit!

I hoped it would be working for me too...
Just got a Wii from my friend who didn't want it anymore. Problem is....he left it to me with the last firmware (4.2E) from Nintendo.
I don't know what to do anymore....always get the message that the hackmii installer 0.6 can NOT continue :-(
Are there other ways to pass the Nintendo software??????
I hope somebody knows how to....
This WII hasn't been hacked yet, is pure original firmware, no HBC or what so ever...

Yes, I have found that one here..
Did all the steps, didn't help...
Anything else what I can do? Getting pretty tired here of all attempts without result

I keep getting ISO36 installation failed step 2

console reboots automatically...
I tought i did everything right, but there is obviously something i missed / done wrong...
I was on system menu 4.2, did everything here, i now have the wiiLoader menu upon boot, HBC installed in the SysMenu. Installed GammaLoader using the WAD Manager.
When loading a backup dvd in GammaLoader, the Wii reboots after displaying a fuzzy & green screen...
Also, i installed WiiXplorer as a channel in the Sysmenu and when this app boots up, the Wii reboots.
i don't know if these 2 problems are linked, but the symptoms are similar. Any idea why? Been looking around and i tried installing/patching a couple of IOS, but no luck.
Any other test i could do to make sure my softmod is properly applied?
Guys, i'm lost...

In my noobish experience, when trying to delete IOS249 and getting an error, even though I did research to see why, I was freaked out because of the error. NOW, I got the stub deleted using the original guides first pack in step B.
JUST LIKE THE INSTRUCTIONS SAID (yes I'm an idiot), IT SAYS TO TRY IOS36, 249, or 250, THEY WERENT SURE. I tried IOS36 and 249 with no luck and didn't try 250, but 250 is what gave me the ability to install games.
So lo and behold, on step B, when wad manager started, I selected IOS250, selected IOS249 from WAD folder and BAM! No more errors!
4.2U, I had updated to 4.2U as well.
Don't know if this helps anyone else, I guess technically the guys who wrote the guide even warned us of this.
Anywho, thank you guys who make all this possible. You people are amazing.
