Cool 4.2U bought 12/2009 and it works!

Just wanted you guys to know that this guide rocks, I was able to get this loaded on a new Christmas bought Wii Dec 2009 and it's working just great! Thank you for putting such a well written guide together and saving us so much time!

Thanks guys, took my time and followed the instructions, it took me about an hour as I double and triple checked things, but my Wii is now softmodded and working beautifully!

The only thing I can suggest for us noobs is better clarification of what options to select, such as in the DOP-IOS program (the NUS option isn't the first, I wasn't sure what I was doing wrong till I realised that it was actually a scrolling option menu)

But still, an excellent, well laid out guide! Kudos

Will this guide work for an updated 4.2u? I had originally had 3.4u version and in order to play a game it updated to 4.2u....
is that a problem? should i still follow this guide?

I have read through and tried numerous different methods of getting this to work with my system being on 4.2u but my system keeps locking up at step #6 when I try to run the WAD manager. I tell it to run IOS249 and it just freezes up everytime. Any suggestions?

Well I got it all taken care of and now have Gamma and USB loader functioning. Great write up, I just confused one of the steps. And had to do a bit more reading on what issues others had. Thanks for having this info out there for us guys.

Ok everyone, happy 2010!! My problem is I got through the entire guide expect for:
a)Re-run Homebrew Channel and Load Any Title Deleter DB. If you get any errors just press A. Then select System Titles and press A. Then, select IOS222 and press A to delete. Do the same for IOS223, IOS249 and IOS250.
that's the only part I couldn't do because I couldn't find those files in AnyTitleDeleter. But when I load up my games via Neogamma, all I get is the DVD read error 1053. Now i understand that this could be because of the D3-2 drive but I really don't think so. I say this because I had my wii fully softmodded using the Twilight hack and playing DVD-R backups for almost 1 year. and then I bricked it about 2 weeks ago and I had to send to Nintendo and they fixed it. when they fixed it, it was on sys menu 4.2u. So I am wondering first of all how do I get rid of this 1053 error and secondly I want to know if Nintendo would put a D3-2 drive on my Wii after unbricking it? Thanks!

    Exclamation tcp_connect timeout?

I'm getting an error on part b of step 2:

After selecting Download IOS from NUS I get

    Initializing network... done
    Loading certs...
    Loading TMD...
    tcp_connect timeout
    Error making http request
    Loading TMD failed

    I've tried several times.
    My internet connection is working.
    Any ideas?

    tcp_connect timeout?

At last it worked out just fine for me.

Everything went smooth exept for the part b step 2 it always failed like difranco says,

Been trying this for several hours, but had no luck.
I downloaded the IOS36-64-v3351.wad and put it on the sd root but it didn't work.

but I kept pushing (part b step 2) and then it suddenly went trough? and downloaded it and istalled it properly and so I could complete this guide and all is working fine now.

    Many thanks,

I finally made it to the WAD manager, and then it dies

I have spent 9 hours on it today

    Step 4 - Installing cIOS249-rev14

    b) Load up homebrew channel once more, then load up WAD Manager. Load IOS249, navigate to the wad folder, highlight IOS60patched.wad and press A. Make sure action is set to install and Install the wad. After a successful install, Press Home to go back to homebrew channel. Do the same for IOS70patched.wad. Make Sure the action is Set to INSTALL!

    4.2u is my rev

it just wont load the WAD

    im SO frustrated

I got the error with a 8 gig SDHC card, where I got the error when loading 60 and 70

and now with a 2 gig mini, in the card holder, it crashes one screen earlier, before I get to the 60 or 70 option

    man am i frustrated

    please help

What is this crash your mentioning? is it a code dump or a freeze?

I think you better redo step 3 and then step 4

Step 3 - Delete The Stubbed IOS

a)Re-run Homebrew Channel and Load Any Title Deleter DB. If you get any errors just press A. Then select System Titles and press A. Then, select IOS222 and press A to delete. Do the same for IOS223, IOS249 and IOS250.

    Step 4 - Installing cIOS249-rev14

    3) Re-run Homebrew Channel and load cIOS38-rev14 Installer. Choose IOS36 and press A and then choose Network Install (requires wi-fi) or Wad Install and press A.

    cIOS38 (IOS249) Installed.

It can be that your ios249 is tha Stubbed IOS that would be why it gets stuck.
have you been abel to fully install cios38-rev14 meaning that it says installation complete at the end!
