you're two steps ahead of me, man. I'm stuck on Step 5 without a Network connection to upload Isos53,55, and 70!!! I can't choose Iso249 to begin this, because when I do, and I choose to upload Iso53, I get two large white paragraphs of random code that you cant read - and nothing kicks over, no buttons can be pushed!!!

I had same problem as alstomo. Look out over the net - this is nothing new. Stayed up way too late fixing this. Tread carefully - my memory may not be the best.

I fixed by loading the following wads into the wads folder on the sd card (google them, you'll find them):

    IOS70-64-v6687.wad
System Menu-NUS-v481.vad (different if you're European, Australian)

Then I used the wad installer on the SD Card though Homebrew channel to install them in THAT ORDER. Please note that this WIPES out your priiloader.

    See this page for reference:

HOWTO: Safely Upgrade To System Menu 4.2 Offline Ade's Softmodding Wii blog

After you load the two wads it may auto boot. Can't remember now. But if not, back out to the homebrew home menu and shutdown. Restart and you should have your wii system menus back! You should also see the Homebrew Channel. Sweet.

Now you will have to re-install your priiloader. I used a slightly different priiloader. Reference this:

HOWTO: Install Priiloader to help prevent system bricks if you cannot use Bootmii as boot2 Ade's Softmodding Wii blog

See the second paragraph before the "Bootmii as IOS" section of that blog post. Look familiar?? Get that Installer.dol (from 2shared - download Installer.dol) and place in the Apps/Priiloader v0.1 folder of your SD card. Rename boot.dol to something else (like old_boot.dol) and then rename Installer.dol to boot.dol.

Then re-install priiloader. Do all the settings as described in the original tutorial and it should all work as advertised.

HOWEVER, reloading IOS70 disables some other stuff from the tutorial. I could not run the USB loader. So I had to redo steps 3 (IOS249 and IOS250) and step 4 of the original tutorial. I redid steps 5 and 6 for good measure.

So far so good. The 4.2 system menus are back and seem to work. The USB loader works. Haven't tried the backup disk loader as I don't have the higher quality disks yet.

ShadowSonic2 please chime in on what else I might have broken. But I'm pretty happy right now. My son was practically crying when he saw that stubborn priiloader menu. Now he's happily playing a game I downloaded for him and stored on a flash drive I had lying around.

Zhando you the best!!!lol i was going to wait but i got anxious and said what the heck all i would lose is 199.99. Anyway, I got my Wii Menu back and i didnt even have to reinstall preloader i have to check to see if it is still there. what was there is the usb loader and homebrew and it is working fine, i have already dl games as back ups with it. i dont really car about the backup disk loader but its there too so job well done. and many many thanks to Zhando..

I did all the steps and I think I did them all correctly. But when I burned the game and tried to play it, the game will load, but it comes out black and white. Does anyone know which step I did incorrectly?

would have been easier if someone toldd me to setup an internet connection via my system settings on the system menu... Wow. I really am a dumb 10 year old! >_<

Will post when having more problems in the future.

edit: tried AGAIN with another program.. back to the blank white screen.
Well check the name of the file again. It should be hacks.ini - no spaces or commas or extra extensions like ".txt". And the file should be in the root directory of the sd card. My sd card is formated FAT32 as opposed to FAT16 - don't know if that make a difference or not. Maybe someone else has an idea?

Is the sd card in the slot when you run the priiloader menu?

Otherwise get a friend/relation who's a programmer/hacker and is comfortable around text editors, Mac OS X (which is a variant of Unix) and complicated install procedures to go over what you're doing, step by step.

Good luck... I'd be pulling my hair completely out if it was me.

Also - find someone with Windows and use notepad. That's what I used. It's totally braindead to me that the Wii would require carriage returns at each line ending but stranger things have happened.

    Us Step 7 - Part D

" d) Your wii should reboot into Priiloader after the installation. Go to System Menu Hacks and enable 'Skip Disc update Checking' and any other hacks you would like, select 'Save Settings' when finish. Press B on the wiimote to go back to the main menu, next go to Settings and use the d-pad to set Autoboot: System Menu. Then select Save Settings. Press B to go back to the main menu. If you get any problems, look here " - I looked there and it didn't help!

I can't find "Skip Disc Update Checking" anywhere on the screen choices, nor do I have any clue what other hacks I would like!!! I'm completely lost here guys, please help! I looked where it said but couldnt find any other information

PASSWORD FOR ALL PACKS IS Wiihacks - Wii Hacking Discussion

If you're not on 4.2, Do NOT Update, instead use this tutorial

This is for people stuck on 4.2 with no cIOS. Make sure your sd card is formatted to FAT32 or FAT16 and download this pack, Unzip this pack but do not place onto the SD Card yet! This is Needed after completing the First Step!

TAKE OUT ALL GAMECUBE MEMORY CARDS AND CONTROLLERS BEFORE PROCEEDING

Step 1 - Installing Homebrew Channel and Bootmii

    1. Download and unzip this. Place the files inside the unzipped folder onto the root of your sd card. Your sd card should look like this:
    X:\private\
    X:\boot.elf

    b. On your wii's main menu, click the SD Menu icon. Afterwards, insert the SD Card into the Wii. A Pop up saying Load boot.dol/elf? should appear. Select Yes.

    c. The Hackmii Installer should now run. Make sure to install Homebrew Channel and Bootmii as an IOS and/or boot2.

    d. Exit. Format your SD Card and place the files from the 'cIOS on 4.2' pack that you downloaded earlier. After these files are on the root of your sd card, continue the tutorial.

Step 2 - Restoring The Bug Into IOS36

    a) After installing Homebrew Channel, Rename the tbrboot.dol on your sd card to boot.dol and load the Homebrew Channel and press home and load bootmii, this will load Trucha Bug Restorer, press B to choose No IOS Reload. Go to Downgrade IOS15 and press A to downgrade. Everytime it says "Load IOS from SD Card" press A on the wiimote.

    b) Load BootMii Again (if bootmii doesn't work, attempt from homebrew), run Trucha Bug Restorer and choose IOS15 and press A. Choose IOS36 Menu. In there use these settings:
    Install IOS to slot (36)
    Hash Check (trucha) Yes
    ES_Identify Yes
    NAND Permissions Yes

Then Press A on Install Patched IOS36. Again Press A when it says "load IOS from SD Card"

    c) Again, re-run Trucha Bug Restorer from bootmii and choose IOS36 and press A. Then choose restore IOS15. Again, when it says "Load IOS from SD Card, Press A.

Step 3 - Delete The Stubbed IOS

a)Re-run Homebrew Channel and Load Any Title Deleter DB (not from bootmii). If you get any errors just press A. Then select System Titles and press A. Then, select IOS222 and press A to delete. Do the same for IOS223, IOS249 and IOS250.

    Step 4 - Installing cIOS249-rev14

    3) Re-run Homebrew Channel and load cIOS38-rev14 Installer (not from bootmii). Choose IOS36 and press A and then choose Network Install (requires wi-fi) or Wad Install and press A.

    cIOS38 (IOS249) Installed.

Step 5 - Install and Patch A Few More IOS

    a) Load up homebrew, then load up DOP-IOS MOD (not from bootmii) Load IOS36 or IOS249, browse for the IOS, Navigate to IOS53, press A to install and say yes for Sig Hash Check (Trucha Bug). Do the same for IOS55 and IOS70. Next press home to return to homebrew channel.

    (Optional) Step 6 - Hermes' IOS222 and IOS223

    a) Load Homebrew Channel and then Run Hermes' cIOS Installer
    b) Select IOS249 for install, select Install custom IOS222 and use IOS38.
    c) Restart app, select custom IOS223 and merge IOS38 with IOS37.

Step 7 - Installing Priiloader (Brick Protection and System Hacks)

    a) Before continuing, you'll need the hacks.ini file for your region, go here and copy and paste the codes in the box for your 4.2 region into notepad and save it as "hacks.ini". Move the hacks.ini file onto the root.

    b) Load Homebrew Channel and run Priiloader v0.1 installer.

    c) Press + on the wiimote to install.

    d) Your wii should reboot into Priiloader after the installation. If you get any problems, look here

    e) In the main menu, select homebrew channel to load the homebrew channel and proceed with Step 7.

    Step 8 - Backup Launchers

    a) Load WAD Manager from Homebrew Channel, navigate into the wad folder and highlight either USB_Loader_GX_r815.wad or Neogamma_r8b7.wad. Neogamma for Disc loading and USB Loader for USB HDD loading.

    b) Press A on the wiimote and set action to Install WAD. Give it time to install with no errors.

    c) Press Home on the wiimote to exit. You are all ready to enjoy your wii.

    EXTRA STUFF

Prepare you USB HDD to load through USB Loader GX - here

Install cIOS56 to play Guitar Hero 5/Beatles from the disc channel - Download

Install the new cIOScorp 3.6 for DVDR loading through Disc Channel - (works on all wiis) - Download - make sure you read the readme!

Install the Internet Channel - NTSC-U, PAL or NTSC-J

Use your Wii as a media player with MPlayer CE & DVDX

Get some emulators for all your old favourites (better than vc except for N64)

    DVD-R

You need to use either Verbatim DVD-R or Ritek G05 DVD-R for your games, most other discs won't work. Have a look at our disc section for more info.

Also note, if your console came with 4.2, there's a chance you'll have a D3-2 Drive which will not load DVDR Backups.

I followed this god line step by step and it worked just fine. Other then GUI from Piiloader (which I can't get back to original Wii system menu?) I tried to upgrade to Piiloader v0.2 but still the same GUI I guess I got to live with it now. I'm in the process of finding iso Wii games to put it to the test but original games work with no issues @ all!!!

i think what i'll end up doing is taking my sd card to a friend's place and using it on their PC. hopefully that'll work. if not, i'm out of ideas.
