i tried everything in the guide but system check halts when checking iso vulnerabilities.
Is there any other way to do it.
please help me out
When I get to Step 5 - Installing cIOS and Channels
a) Launch Homebrew Channel and Load MMM.
b) Go to "Load another IOS" Select IOS236 and Press A
c) Select "WAD Manager"
d) Press '1' on the WiiMote then 'A'.
e) This will install all cIOS and WADs.
f) Do NOT power the Wii during installation, ensure this finishes with no errors.
Once done, you'll have all the necessary cIOS and Backup Launchers.
SMALL FIX: In your SD Card, go to /apps/usb-loader/ and rename cfg-64.dol to boot.dol
There is not a ISO236 to load.. What have I done wrong?
Thanks for any help given,
I live in London and my father bought me a load of Wii games in the US, not realising that they are not compatible with my machine, so I want to be able to unlock my Wii.
I purchased an unlocking tool for about $35 from BreWii and I have tried following the instructions. In fact, I have followed three of the four steps successfully. I have installed the HomBrew Channel and I have removed IOS249 and replaced it with cios38rev14. The only thing I haven't yet done is get the USB Backup Loader to work (because I don't own a suitable USB drive).
But my question is: do I need to do all that in order to get my US games to work on my European Wii.
I stress: I ONLY want to be able to play the US games. I don't want to back up all of my games and I do not want to use the HomeBase channel. I only want to play the US games.
When I try using the US games, the WIi says that the "Disc cannot be read", so I assume that I have not yet unlocked the Wii.
What I don't understand is how the "unlocking" works. When properly unlocked, will I be able to play the discs in the ordinary way just as if they were European discs, or do I first have to burn them to the USB drive and then play them through the Homebase channel (whatever that is!).
As you can see, I'm a complete novice to all this, so any help or advice you can offer would be great.
I have been awake half the night trying to work this out, but I am completely stuck. My kids are so disappointed because they can't play any of their new games!!
I wonder whether it was necessary to pay $35 to BreWii... Have I been scammed, I wonder? I have emailed them, but haven't had any response....
PS Here are the instructions which I paid for: (guide thats not a wiihacks guide) I have completed steps A-C, but not D.
I thought that step D was only needed in order to backup my games (which I don't want to do). All I want to do is to play the US games in my European console, but this is still not possible on my machine...

Yes; I live in the UK. My father bought my kids a stack of Wii games in the US (where he lives). We didn't realise that they wouldn't be compatible. All I want to do is unlock my console so that we can use the games.
is there an easy way of doing this?!
You can change the region settings for games in the usb/disc loader settings.
YES you were scammed HB is free........I purchased an unlocking tool for about $35 from BreWii and I have tried following the instructions. 1. When you say "this guide", do you mean the one at the very beginning of this thread?
2. Once I have "unlocked" the console, will I play the games in the "ordinary" way (i.e. put the disc in and play as usual, or will I have to use the HB channel?)?
3. What do you mean by the "USB / disc loader" settings? Will I hvae to burn the games to a USB hard drive and play them through that?
Apologies if these are stupid questions (I'm not very technical!)
You can try the originals through neo gamma (disc loader) to see if they work.
Neogamma is a hb app that you use to launch backup discs and it has settings within the app that you can change to play out of region games.
USB loading you can do the same and is far superior to disc loading anyway. You can pick up a cheap hdd - Western Digital Elements 1TB External Hard Drive Hi.. | Ebuyer.com
You have to ask yourself the question do you want to keep putting discs in and out of the wii or load them off a hdd where they are in one place and use a usb loader to access them..
Or you could try and win a 1tb WD HDD in our competition http://www.wiihacks.com/wiihacks-sit...1-drawing.html
