just wondering --- what is the best way to play back up discs from the disc channel instead of using Neogamma?
also, this may be a dumb question, but is this essentially a shortcut to messie's guide?

Hey guys tried this guide on my virgin updated 4.2e Wii and worked perfectly. Tried another guide on this forum titled "Full hacking guide for 4.2 system menus!!!!", installed HBC, DvdX and BootMii but was unable to exterminate ios149 stub as Wiimote connection would be lost.
After some searching on this forum found this guide, followed it to the letter and was successful in removing the ios's so now I can play backup games with ease! For anyone who is having difficulty trying to play backups from DVD-RW I suggest you switch over to DVD-R of any reliable brand (I use Maxell burned at 4x and works flawlessly!) I couldn't get RW to work with DVD read error.
Once again thanks for this amazing guide, couldn't have softmodded my Wii without it!

Wii Hard Drive
Hi guys, just joined wii Hacks today, trying to get my games to run off hard drive, unfortunately I already upgraded firmware to 4.2 but have managed to get homebrew to work so far. Just nothing else. when I try running any app off homebrew I get blank screen and wii freezes. Any advice???

You said to leave feedback if it worked so I am, thanks!
If it helps: Got a new wii, updated it to 4.2e using the wii itself, installed HBC/DVDx/bootmii (as an IOS, couldn't install as boot2) and then tried to look at some other guides but nobody seems to have a clue what they're doing, this guide looked pretty clear about what to do so I followed it and I'm now playing backups from discs no problem (haven't tried a USB loader but I'm sure it'll be fine). I think now I'll try to install priiloader so I don't banner brick and then get neogamma as a channel or something. Thanks for the help.
Anyone know a good priiloader tutorial? Will I have to patch IOS70 or is all that covered in this guide?

Patching IOS70 is optional. Note, if you plan on patching your IOS70, you must patch it before installing Priiloader. If you're looking for a Priiloader tutorial, this tutorial answers FAQs, provides a changelog and has instructions on preparing, installing etc:

Thanks a lot for the reply, I just finished installing priiloader now. Basically I read everywhere I could on the issue (dunno how I missed that post you linked) and once I was relatively sure what to do I gave it a shot using part D of the full 4.2 system menu tutorial.
This is pretty much how I softmodded my 4.2E wii:
Installed HBC/DVDx/BootMii(no boot2 :<) using the bannerbomb exploit as recommended on the HBC homepage.
Patched my IOSes using the excellent tutorial I'm replying to here .
Installed/patched (not really sure which one I did) IOS70-64-v6687 [Patched][FreeTheBug].wad and priiloader (downloaded that from what I think is the official site) using steps D of the "Full hacking guide for 4.2 system menus!!!!" tutorial
And it's all worked great. Thanks a lot for everything. Gonna try installing some stuff as channels using wadder now that I'm safe from banner bricks .
