Hang on a minute - I've just noticed the key difference between point 2 in this article, and Messies instructions:

If you choose this, Wiimote dies. But if you choose IOS36, like in Messies tutorial, you can proceed, and then choose IOS249 to uninstall... at which point I get the same 3 -1017 errors.
So, this process is essentially the same as Messies, so I'm goiing back to that one and waiting for a fix that enables the 249 uninstall.
well right now i am at a loss, i cant tell why this works for other ppl and for other does not... you can experiment with using different ioses, see which one works for you
thanks ppl i got it done last night. But the reason the wii remote shut off for me because i was using the wadmanager 1.5 version but when i was using the 1.4 version everything worked great. The only problem i have is that i can't do the OPTIONAL - Any Title Deleter Hermes cIOS Installer. So when i try to install the forward channel it give me a error. but i can still use usb loader and neogamma no problem by placing it in the apps folder.
My wii was accidently updated... and I tried this, and keep getting the same problem with the wii remote like some other people. Sucky. D:
I am a noobee and may be this is a stupid question, but when I go to bootmii to load
ios249 it freezes and the wiimote turns off. I updated to 4.2 and lost hbc. I recovered hbc with hackmii and bannerbomb. I use usbloader GX. now my problem is that it won't load backups from usb. (I get a black screen). I think to play packup channels like usb I need cIOS38 rev14. Is this installed through ios249?. anyhelp would be appreciated.

succesfully applied to virgin pal wii updated up to 4.2e.
Just a note for who loosing sync with wiiremote @ step 4, run cios38, wait about 20secs, after start up, press ONCE the right arrow and wait 'till the wiiremote sync again before press any other key.
If you have error -1035, on install, probably U had previously received an error on stub ios249 removal (-1017). Do it againt and when promped which ios to reload, use ios250. Not work for me the option no ios reload.

I seem to be having a problem with step 6) "OPTIONAL - Any Title Deleter Hermes cIOS Installer" I was successful with the rest, but for some reason when I try to load Any Title Deleter MOD, my screen goes blank and my remote turns off. The same problem happens when I try to load USB loader GX.

I believe installing IOS36 with the Sig Hask Check via DOP-IOS MIGHT get Any Title Deleter to work
