    Thanks!

    Reading games reviews is fine, but it stil worth than try the game itself before buying. And that is why I want to thanks authors and other members who challenge them in order to provide top quality tutorials.

    I read tutorials for beginners, and follow step by step sofmoding one for any 4.2 and everything works fine for me.

    You can still use a USB loader and play backups through a USB key or a USB HDD.
    Just look at the end of the guide.

    Wink Warning!

    WARNING!!! What they don't tell you.
    I only bought my first Wii a month ago. It is a hardly used 4.2E
    I only started modding it a couple of days ago. I got all my games to load and work flawlessly from my USB HDD this morning.
    I'm already scanning Ebay for a virgin! (Wii)
    I heard you could become an addict after 1 hit of crack but this is ridiculous!

    Priiloader / Internet Connection

    I have softmodded my virgin Wii 4.2E (on the weekend just gone) following a similar guide *Removed External Guide* but was reluctant to install priiloader, due to mixed results and warnings (from different guides).

    I could not install Bootmii to Boot2, it is only installed on IOS, and keep reading that priiloader is the next best thing to help restore a NAND Backup IF I bricked my Wii.

    Q. Should I install priiloader (using your tutorial)

    Also, I have been reluctant to switch on my Internet connection, specifically because I don't want Nintendo to attempt to update my Wii and brick it. Is it safe to enable the Wi-Fi connection and do I have to worry about anything. I have not used the Wii online as yet, so I don't even know what features are available online.

    Please advise.

    Thanks!

    You should install Priiloader, yes. Not Preloader. It is very useful (although NOT to restore your NAND).

    This is what Priiloader is for. Enable the block online and disk updates (as it says in the guide).
    Damn I suck!!!!

    @Krank

    Thanks. Didn't realise that Preloader and Priiloader were two different things? Just thought people were lazy when typing Priiloader (like me)

    Any other suggestions for taking brick preventative measures since I was only able to install Bootmii as IOS? I have taken a NAND backup after the first step of Banner Bomb / Hackmii and keep a copy of the nand and keys file on my PC for safe keeping.

    I don't plan to fiddle with my Wii much more than what I have already, I just wanted to be able to play games from a USB HDD, and that is pretty much where the Wii is at now. However, before I go online, I wanted to take preventative steps to ensure that if something did go wrong (most likely someone else updating something they shouldnt) I could recover.

    Q. Once I switch internet connection, will covers through CFG USB Loader work, or is this something I need to download myself (via Wii Game Manager or other) and save to the SD card / USB HDD itself?

    Cheers!

    Yes, read and learn. Avoid doing things if you don't understand why you are doing them. Never delete an IOS below 200. Don't lose your Nand.bin or keys.bin. Install Priiloader.

    A. Yes you can download covers after configuring your Internet connection (you can also download them on the PC and copy to SD/USB). Either way will work.

    @Krank.

    I have been reading / searching / googling and have resolved the majority of issues without resorting to requesting helps from forums.

    I suppose the only reason why I ask these 'most-likely-already-answered-questions' is A) I read conflicting responses re: priiloader and B)because the search string is so open ended, I was getting a myriad of unrelated results for something as common as: Is it safe to enable internet access on a modded wii.

    Thanks for the feedback. It is appreciated.

    I think I will be following one of your tutorials in your signature to install a channel to point to CFG USB Loader ( I will also need to add the WAD Manager - which I will track down somewhere in this forum)

    Cheers

    I have never had a problem with Priiloader and it is installed on every wii I have modded. It does sound like you have been reading, just pointing out that the best brick prevention is knowledge (IMO).

    If you followed a softmod guide here you should already have Wad Manager. Or as you said, you can find it by searching the forum.

    Cheers!
