Followd the thread of the black screen, but I had to do it on 250, and not on 249 (there was the problem)

Can I continue the modding process without bootmii installed?
Why would you want to? This is your main "BRICK" protection. Allows you to access wii before system menu loads, which is usually where you will brick. I am not a pro at this by any means, someone else might have a recomendation but i myself wouldnt go any farther w/o bootmii.

    stuck on step 8

guys i am syuck on step 8

    Step 8 - Backup Launchers
Pre-Note: If you have a newer Wii, it probably has the D3-2 Drive which prevents you from loading DVD Backups. This means you'll have to use a USB Loader

    a) Load WAD Manager from Homebrew Channel, navigate into the wad folder and highlight either USB_Loader_GX_r929.wad or Neogamma_R9_beta10.wad. (Neogamma for Disc loading and USB Loader for USB HDD loading.)

when i go in to the wad manager i cant find these options. it just gives me "select ios version to use"

anyone know what i have done wrong?

Hey. I started to soft mod my Wii but I made a silly error. I downloaded the files from this guide while following the one itt. I realized this once I just completed installing Homebrew from the other guide. I was wondering what should I do. I can't finish this guide with the other software because I guess they just don't add up. I have tried and I get error codes and it kicks me out of Homebrew. Should I just follow this guide so everything is back to normal so I can start over? Do you recommend that I just finish the full guide so I don't mess up my Wii? What is the difference between it and this one?

Also, silly question that I think I know the answer to. Will this guide let me set up an external HDD that will run ROMS for retro games like NES, N64, GENESIS, etc... ?

Thanks for the help btw, I'm still learning :\

You don't need to virginize. If all you did was install the homebrew channel then you can just format your SD card and start again using the guide you want. This guide OR the other one you linked to are both good, this one is a little more updated though. Like you said, don't follow both guides. Pick one and stick with it. The answer to your last question is yes.
    Damn I suck!!!!

my soft modded wii was upgraded from 4.1 to 4.2U. Can I use this tutorial straight up, or do I need to delete or modify the wii first? I already have backup loader and usb loader Gx installed but they don't work anymore. thnx.
