I am having the same problem that poodstoosexy was with the read error 1101. I have tried burning several different ISO's (both PAL ant NTSC). I followed the Full hacking guide for 4.2 system menus!!!! by Messie. So I am using NeoGamma r7 to try and launch the game. I don't really understand the difference between that guide and what this thread is telling us to do. poodstoosexy got his to work appearently by burning at 1x. My Nero only goes down to 2x which is what I burned the failure DVD's on. I am trying again with Verify on, but i have doubts that it will work. Any other help would be great.

My 2 cents. use Imgburn and VERBATIM DVD-R Media. Good luck!

Hi, thanks for this guide, I think the first time I tried it I missed deleting the ios249 from step 2, as the network installation of ios38rev14 kept failing with error -1035 .. this time I was sure to delete all of those ioses mentioned and this time it got installed without errors ...
one tiny thing
I assumed from step 5, you meant:
c) Restart app, select IOS249 for install, select Install custom IOS223 and then select merge IOS38 with IOS37.
I hope that is right, because thatīs what I did...

Ozzzie, did you do Step 1 right? It sounds to me that you need to do TBR in order to get rid of that error.

I tried Imgburn and VERBATIM DVD-R Media with the same results. I really don't know what else to try. Still read error 1101.

maybe you have the new drive D3-2 that cannot read backups at all

I appreciate your time and effort in writing this. Easy to understand and it worked. I've been tried to piece together how to do this for days now and had messed my Wii up pretty well. Deep joy that it finally works.

I couldn't install the neogamma 7 wad before .. this time, it did got installed and it appears as a channel, with which I can now play the backups ...
just to confirm, it *is* recommended *not* to upgrade to 4.2, am I right? arent there any real enhancements worth the "risk" of upgrading? what about next upgrades (4.3, 4.4 etc) ? I mean, what will happen when those come out, just stay at 4.1 ? just curious ...
again, thanks a lot
