But the biggest problem is I was not able lauch any games from hdd. I can see all games on mu usb hard drive but the moment I click to lauch , it turns into black screen. Can you please help. My version is 4.2U. Thanks

    Cannot remove stubbed IOSs

    Hello:

First off, I apologize if this was already addressed in this thread.

I've been following the tutorial and, so far, everything looks good. I believe I was able to load IOS36 without any errors. Where I'm stuck is step 4 where I remove the stubbed IOSs - it doesn't give me an option to hit the "-" key on the wiimote to remove the IOS when I select IOS222. Should I try step 3 again but, instead of choosing IOS36, just hit B for "no IOS reload.

I see that there's a option "remove stubbed IOSs", but I'm not sure if I want to do that. Please let me know if I should.

    Thanks!

Are you using DOP-Mii or DOP-IOS Mod? I ask because DOP-Mii had the option Remove Stubbed IOS taken out before its release. Check that you're using DOP-Mii and so long as the top-right box says "Not Installed" when highlighting IOS222 then the stub was never installed or was already removed and you may continue on.

I'm using DOP-IOS Mod. I dont see a DOP-Mii option in the homebrew channel (I downloaded the mod pack right from this forum). Can I continue with this tutorial with DOP-IOS, or do I need DOP-Wii and, if so, where do I get it and how do I install it?

Should I choose the option to "remove stubbed IOSs"?

You might've downloaded an older pack from this page. DOP-IOS Mod used to be in the pack but has since been replaced (I just checked the download to be sure). Other people will have different opinions but I was disappointed with DOP-IOS Mod v11-11.5 because of certain issues they had along the way. So my advice is,

    Download DOP-Mii v12.zip
    Extract to sd:\
Continue on where you left off

    Great walkthrough, one question...

I followed the walthrough...works great! kudos to you

Being a Nooob at this is is absolutely nessassery to follow through with step 7?

Step 7 - Installing Priiloader (Brick Protection and System Hacks)
Before continuing, download your hacks.ini file from here, unzip it and place the hacks.ini onto the root of your SD Card.

    a) Load Homebrew Channel and run Priiloader v0.3b (rev48) installer.

    b) Press + on the wiimote to install.

    c) Your wii should reboot into Priiloader after the installation (If it doesn't, power off your Wii and hold reset on the console while turning it on). Go to System Menu Hacks and enable 'Skip Disc update Checking' and any other hacks you would like, select 'Save Settings' when finish. Press B on the wiimote to go back to the main menu, next go to Settings and use the d-pad to set Autoboot: System Menu. Then select Save Settings. Press B to go back to the main menu. If you get any problems, look here

    d) In the main menu, select homebrew channel to load the homebrew channel and proceed with Step 8.

I loaded Priiloader, and booted into the menu, but I never could find the 'Skip Disc update Checking' I uninstalled and re-installed the Priiloader that came with the Homebrew Install but I don't think it's the same version your guide is refering too. back to my origional question, should I update the Priiloader so I can enable these hacks? the system is working as is , just wondering

Thanks for your time and your help!

my friends wii was took to a computer place to get it modded/chipped 2 ppl said the wii was not possible to be modded/chipped to run backups from the dvd drive
the wii was new from xmas had 4.2E and supposed to have had a D3-2 drive(i dont know i never opened it)
my friend asked me if i could try a softmod to add a usb hdd i formatted his wii and updated it after i setup the wireless connection
i followed this guide and got to the part where you install the usb loader gx when i installed it i repeated the same steps and installed the backup loader (dvd) also was curious at that stage finished the rest of the guide rebooted the wii everything seemed to boot ok so i got 1 of my daughters dvd backups and when i tried it it worked perfect i havnt setup the usb drive yet but seems simple enough to do

thankyou for the guides/tutorials very well put together

    p.s
part 3a ( Load and Homebrew Channel and run DOP-Mii, on the IOS Selection Screen, select 'Install An iOS w/ fakesign' by pressing down on the d-pad then A on the wiimote) ---->(( You should now be in the trucha bug restorer portion of DOP-Mii)) didnt happen for me ? rebooted wii went to HBC then loaded trucha bug restorer then continued steps 3a+
but everything worked out ok following the guides

    a) Load up homebrew, then load up DOP-Mii. Load IOS36 or IOS249, select IOS menu, Navigate to IOS53, press + to install and say yes for Sig Hash Check (Trucha Bug) but say NO to the other patches. Do the same for IOS55. Next press home to return to homebrew channel.
Thanks a lot for such a useful guide. The above has me a bit confused though. When it says "do the same for IOS55", does that mean you go back to DOP-Mii main menu and load IOS55, then install IOS53 on it? Or does it mean to install IOS53 on IOS36/249? And for that matter, which is the smarter choice; 36 or 249?

    Thanks again!
