Can play NTSC backups (U and J) but not PAL ones on 4.2U

Hi, I have EXACTLY the same problem. I have a Wii with 4.2U and everything is working on it but PAL games. I follow the softmod guide for 4.2 and all went through ok... I could get all patched IOS installed, bootmii (as IOS), Trucha bug restored, Waninkoko (249 and 250 rev17) cIOS installed, Hermes cIOS installed (202, 222, 223), USB Loader GX and all works...

However WHATEVER PAL disc I try to play it just refuses it saying It can't read the disc... see wii operations manual... bla bla bla... And I can play MANY other backups if they are NTSC (U or J, both are working) and through USB Loader GX I can play all PAL games...

    To summarize, I'm on 4.2U, cIOS 249 rev17, Neogamma r7 (and tried r8 b15 as well)...

*** Any chance to get this fixed installing ciosCorp 3.6?

PLEASE... Could someone sheed some light on this???

You need to make sure you have a blank line at the end. This can cause the error you're experiencing.

    neogamma loads to black screen

I was an idiot apparently an downloaded and installed an app called mplayer. Up to that point I have had my 4.2 softmodded running all games no problems using neogamma or usbloader. Now I cannot get neogamma to load anything. So I tried downgrading and reinstalling the softmod and I am getting nowhere. Any suggestions?

Unhappy Step 5 .... No way without internet???

I have no internet connection with Wii.
OK. I managed all steps up to 4 (included) using wad files form SD.

I sucessfuy evaded "blackscreens" by resetting Wii after each substep.

But in step 5a, when I trie to instal ISO53, it said just "You have to have internet connection, sorry!" or something like that.

So, does this mean that I should forget about softmoding my Wii until I get internet wireles router (might be long time becouse of very tight budget)?

the tutorial seems very well thought and explained. I'd like to try to softmod my wii to play games from a USB HDD. However I have one doubt. will my virtual console games and wiiware games still be playable after a succesful modification? Also, I suppose that when Nintendo releases a FW above 4.2, I won't be able to buy more games from the wii shop channel without updating to the newest FW (which I assume can brick my console) am I correct?

and a 3rd question would be, will this softmod method allow me to play/rip NTSC-J games on my ntsc-U wii?

Thanks for any insight regarding the above issues.
    Ok. Thanks for nothing people.

    priiloader issue?

Hello. I went through all the steps and got the softmod working. Now I am trying to get to the point when I boot the Wii it goes to the System Menu so I can load Neogamma or USB Loader GX from one of the channels. Currently it boots to BootMii first. I then have to get out my GC controller and boot into the System Menu from there. I tried to set Autoboot in the priiloader settings to "System Menu" but it still goes to BootMii first. Can I bypass BootMii some how and go straight to the System Menu? Thanks in advance.

    a) Before continuing, you'll need the hacks.ini file for your region, go here and copy and paste the codes in the box for your 4.2 region into notepad and save it as "hacks.ini". Move the hacks.ini file onto the root.
Quick question. On that wiki page it lists system menu 4.2 for USA, EUR, JAP and KOR. I'm in Australia (PAL) so which hacks.ini do i require?

Use the European hacks.ini if your wii is PAL.
