I have LU64 4.2(nintendo wifi update)
Bootmii installs as IOS, will not load through HBC 1.05
Just black screen and Flashing tray.
Is bootmii really needed If I have a modchip? (*drivekey)
Ok guys, here's what I have. I foolishly took this upgrade not knowing the new 4.2 was out (just wanted 4.0, should have done some homework -crap!-) and of course lost Homebrew. I di a little research any your crack team had it fixed, so it seemed. I was able to use bannerbomb to reinstall HB. However, everything is now locking up when I try to install it. Wad manager will not work, bootmii locks so hard after the new install (IOS and boot2) that my wii will not restart unless I remove the SD card from the slot first. It also refuses to let my HBC update to the new version. It says "the updated homebrew installer is a different size than expected." and then goes to the old version. Backup launcher locks up. In every case, all 4 lights on the Wiimote flash a few times and then do dark. If I push any buttons they flash again but nothing happens. The only way to make my Wii think again is to do a hard reset with the power button. Anybody have any suggestions for me? I'd appreciate any help I can get. Thanks for all your hard work, guys.
*update* I was able to download new HBC from Homebrew. It loaded fine. I also downloaded Gecko OS, but it cannot read my copies. Says I have no DVD. It worked fine before.

Reason: New Info
I have a 4.1u with a d2pro and no homebrew at all. I'm not to concerned about homebrew, and would like to upgrade to 4.2 (gotta get ready for Super Mario Bros.). From what I read on the forums, I'm pretty sure the d2pro will upgrade ok with 4.2, but would like to leave myself the opportunity to run homebrew just in case 4.2 doesn't like the d2pro.
If I want to leave myself an out, what should I install at this point? Just Hackmii 0.5 and the HBC 1.0.5, DVDX v2, and bootmi? Should I even bother with bootmii since it will get over written? Or should I just wait until there are other solutions?
All of my backups are in region and none are scrubbed.
Taffy, u may like to Hackmii 0.5, get hbc and bootmii. DvDx not your favor, certainly.
After Hackmii 0.5, ur hbc/bootmii will be alive with 4.2u ( if happens 2u, or u purposely up to.).
with D2Pro as safety net, ure prison break.

install hbc at 4.1U. And, Bootmii as IOS, recommended.
don't worry the "title trick", hackmii_v0.5 do it for u in back stage.
Bootmii will need to be reinstalled after the upgrade though, correct?

there a new hackmii installer v0.5.and aad6a.search them up on google and download them.simple as that dudes.
I have a wii, an sd card and this here computer. How do i get this homebrew channel for free and without much computer litteracy?
for any of u that are tired of waiting for hbc for 4.2.your wait is up.if you mistakly updated your wii to 4.2 like i did.i will show you the guide and if you need anymore help installing anything like ios36 and cios249 for the wii send me a message at firstname.lastname@example.org i will try to get back with you as soon as possible.
http://qoid.us/aad6a_v.zip is where you want to go and download aad6a.
okay now do some google searches and install hackmii installer v0.5.
now what your going to do is put your wii sd card into your computer.
open up your sd card.if you happen to have a folder named private because you saved a game to your sd card.simpley rename it for example 3private or privateold.
now you want to open up your aad6a folder that you downloaded and drag the private folder to your sd card.
now open up the hackmii installer.when you open that up you will see another hackmii installer.open that up.you should see a folder named boot.elf.if not rename the hackmii installer.elf folder to boot.elf.
now drag the boot.elf file into your sd card.
a private folder and a boot.elf should be added.
simply take your sd card out of your computer.and place it into your wii.now this is the thing.if you go to wii options, data management, channels,sd card.your wii will freeze.so now you have to load boot.dol/elf from the sd card menu.
pretty awesome to me.
thank you for following my guide.
