to clarify once this has done and we have a cios/
we are able to downgrade to a lower firmware using wad installation.

HOWEVER CHECK WHICH IOS WAD IS NEEDED TO BE INSTALLED PRIOR TO INSTALLING YOUR SYSTEMMENU WAD
ie if you want to downgrade to 3.2 pal you need to install IOS30-64-v1040.wad
    followed by systemmenu 290.wad.

DONT MESS ABOUT WITH WAD DOWNGRADING IF YOU DONT KNOW WHAT YOU ARE DOING OR UNLESS YOU HAVE BOOTMII INSTALLED AS BOOT2 AND HAVE A NAND BACKUP!

    U BEEN WARNED!!
P.S great guide good old cboot2!!!!!!! LOL

    Unhappy Almost!!!!!!

Hi, I would just like to say thanks so far for getting my Wii almost back to the stage I had it before my Dumbass decided to update it to v4.2 and then decided to do even more stupid things like removing what i had hoping a reinstall would fix it. Anyway I have followed your instructions and thankfully I now have the HBC back on and I have even managed to install the USB GX Loader as a channel but when ever i run the USB loader, or pretty much any other WAD it freezes my Wii, any ideas? I isntalled everything like you said with no errors.

    Thanks in advance

Just got my Wii a few days ago with 4.0u on it. Upgraded to 4.2u before trying the instructions listed above. I have the HBC, but when I run 'Part C: The installation of cios38rev14', I get all successful messages except for Installing the Custom IOS. With that, I get 'Install Error! (ret = 2011).

When I try to load USB Loader GX, I just get a black screen and the system locks up. Once I power down and power back up, I can get back to the Home Screen.

Can anyone help me with this?

    Thanks in advance.

This worked great ! Thanks .
I used CISO 250 when unistalling and installing all of the other ones had errors or did not work.
Both of the first packs worked. had to launch it from bootmi a couple of times , but worked eventually.
    Thanks

When Wad Manager freezes it is not able to use the IOS you selected for it use-top of screen. Either find a working IOS or try and reinstall IOS249 to use.

"B4)Select bootmii and wait." How long should this wait take. Its been about 5 minutes and all my wii does is flash where the discs are inserted. Just curious as to what went wrong if something did.

I tried this, but when trying to uninstall 249, I just get a Error 1017 message on all three. If I have a new Wii with 4.0 that was upgraded to 4.2, should I even need to run Part B?
