I have a question. After softmodding successfully, what files should I keep in my SD cards and what should I delete? I am trying to save data from games played on SD cards instead of Wii console. Some folders have been created (like "image" from downloading games cover) and some new files since I softmodded two days ago. The reason for asking is that if I try to view my SD cards data with all the files on them, it will ask me to start with boot.dol? I haven't tried saying no and see what happens though. Thanks in advance.

If you have internet connection, I would suggest try ShadowSonic2's
    HTML Code:
    http://www.wiihacks.com/recommended-faqs-guides-tutorials-only/24839-softmod-any-4-2-wii.html
tutorial from step 3. Download his original files and put in your formatted SD card with hacks.ini . Also, USB Loader GX r929 gave me error(step 8). So you better delete that file in \WAD folder and replace by USB Loader GX r921. You can google for this file and download it. I hope that helps. I didn't even bother installing DVDx and didn't install neogamma. It is much easier to play all games stored in USB HD. No need to bother with DVD for each game.

you need the bootmii folder on the root of the sd card. Did you back it up onto your computer when you ran hackmii? If not run hackmii again and choose prepare sd card and this should sort out your freezing problemo.

    cios38rev14 installation problem

I'm not sure if this has already been asked and answered but i checked most of the posts.

The problem is when I try to install cios38rev14. After loading the program the drive light where you insert the disk shows a solid blue light.
I'm using my wii remote and and after I press A for anything the light disappears and then the wii seems to freeze and nothing moves or works.

The connection between the remote and wii also seems to have been broken and will not reestablish the connection. What can I do to get past this problem?

Here is what I did in steps:
    1. I took my 2gb SD card and formated into FAT32 and then placed the contents of the .rar file into it.

    2. I inserted the card in after I powered up the wii and clicked the SD card on the bottom left.

    3. Disclaimer appears. Installed first two with no problems. Then I prepared the SD card and installed bootmii as boot2 and it was successful.

    4. I backed up my NAND by restarting my wii and going to the SD card options. I copied it and waited for it check. No problems less than 20 bad blocks.

    5. Problem is here, I loaded up the homebrew channel and loaded cios38rev14. Rock music ensues and then I highlighted ios250. Pressed A and the problem occurs. I had to hold the power button to turn it off.

I have tried reinstalling everything to no avail.
Someone please help me, thank you!

I forgot to mention my system version is 4.2u and I just accidentally updated the homebrew channel to 1.07 or something but that still didn't change the fact the installer doesn't work.

Have you tried installing using ios 249, also this could be a network problem.

You would also be better off installing cios rev 17.

Follow this guide and do a wad installation instead of network http://www.wiihacks.com/recommended-...installer.html

Then carry on with this guide

    Wink

After doing all the steps, what files should be updated? For exemple, cios38 its latest version is 20 isn't it?But in the tutorial is the rev14.To install new versions, always must be installed over the previous version right?

Yes they always overwrite the previous install (Unless you choose a different slot when using cIOSx Rev 20 installer). The recommended Revision to be on is cIOS38 Rev17. You can find install instructions in shadowsonic2's softmod for any 4.2 Wii. Basically just run the cIOS38 Rev 17 installer from HBC and choose IOS249 for installation.
    Damn I suck!!!!
