Also for the gamecube controller does it have to be wireless? Sorry for the newbs question, I am not much of a gamer and I am trying to mod it for my son.
So you are on the back up nand part? Did you re format the card after the first step was complete?

Look at this thread if black screen is the case on the nand back up. This was posted this morning. http://www.wiihacks.com/wiihacks-new...w-channel.html

Gamecube controller is only needed if you cant navigate around the menu with the power and reset button. Wireless or not im not sure as didnt need it.

"Bootmii requires the presence of a few files on your SD card to load.
Run the hackmii installer boot.elf through HBC and prepare the bootmii SD card through the relevant option."

It sounds like the problem that I am having but have already prepared the sd card and intalled bootmii.

What is my next step, was I suppose to install IOS installer ? ( I tried this and was stuck and my wiimote cut off).

I also tried step Step B - went to boot mii and that was when I was getting the black screen, disc light flashing and remote cut off.

    I am a confused newb.

actually I did that. It was after the backup, loaded to my pc and the step after this is where I am stuck.

Have you made a NAND Back up or not? The next step after this one is uninstall the stubbed 249 ios using wad manager.

PART B: The extermination of the evil stub ios249

Ok, so N did this update and those ppl knew that we use ios249 to install our cios and place our backups. What did they do? they invented an empty ios ("stub") and place it in slot 249, to stop us. Like they will! Muhahahaha. Here is what we do about it. We will uninstall ios249 stub, and then install our own cios38rev14 in slot 249:

B1) GET THIS PACK(Thanks to Dogeggs, he sure made the trick... this will probably work for anyone) or GET THIS PACK 2 or GET THIS PACK 3 (pick start with the first one, if you get an error pick the next one and follow instructions from B2 and on again. One of this will do the trick without an error. If still nothing, try this)

B2)Format the SD card, with FAT32, place the contents of the included folder in the SD card root. Only files in SD root should be:
    root:\Wad\
    root:\bootmii\
    root:\startup.elf
    root:\boot.dol
    root:\00000001\ <-(if available)

B3)Place the SD card in the wii, start HBC and press home ar the main HBC screen. (If your wii boots to Bootmii, just go to B5)

    B4)Select bootmii and wait.

B5)Wadmanager should start.(On ios select, select ios36, or try a few, 249, 250 dunno,we are scratching our heads with this)!!

B6)Select SD card and press A to continue.

B7)Select ios249 from wad folder and press A

B8)change the action to "uninstall wad", press A

B9)Done!! now to the next step!!

I have done the backup. I can't access the wad manager. this is what I have done in step B.

    reformat the sd card
dl the pack and install in sd card.
go to HBC and run bootmii

This is where I am stuck. As describe before the black screen, flashing lights and cut of remote. I can't get wad manager to start after choosing the launch bootmii option in hbc.

So after step B4, it won't go to B5 where wad manager is suppose to start.
