Hey, this has probably already been asked here. but I'm just overwhelmed by the number of pages that I would have to go though to see if it was or not...

Which one is better? Messi's or ShadowSonic's? and what is the 0000000001 file? and why is it needed for ShadowSonics, and not required for this one? What's the diffrence?

@ WKcool- This is a guide to softmod all 4.2 wii's so your question is FAIL. All wii's can be softmodded.

@ kimi232- They are both great guides. Read them over and pick the one you like. Follow only ONE guide and make sure you complete every step and you will be fine.
    Damn I suck!!!!

    hey guys,

I just purchase Wii yesterday and I believe it has new DVd-drive which I can only play from USB drive.. I have read the guide to mod my Wii and ready to mod.. before I start.. I need to clear up something..

1-The NANDs is a backup file correct.. if my wii is brick.. will this file bring back to life??
2-eventhough I'm going to load game from USB.. I need to followed step A to D?
3-my Wii is MOd... i'm I going to have any problem playing games from retail in the future?

    thanks guy..

PS.. what is the password to get file?.. I must missed reading some where..

*sighs* .. So where do i find Boot 2 once the installing of step 1 is finished so i can back it up?
it said it was successful, but when i goto the hb channel and push home, all i see is "back" "about" "exit to system" and "shutdown"
Also should I update at this point of the Hb channel even though i'm not through the whole setup?
And there is it suposed to sound like it's trying to read something when the system is turned on? like.. heavily trying to read something in the disk drive?

    Thanks

Ps. there is also my IP address and "1.0.5" and "IOS61 v21.29" on the homebrew channel home menu.

If you installed bootmii as boot2 then you need to put the SD card in your wii with the bootmii files on it. The files should have been created when you installed bootmii. Your wii should boot directly to bootmii.

No you can update once you have finished the guide(unless it tells you to update the HBC in the guide).

All you have to do is follow the guide.

Not sure what you mean with your last question. I can't say I have experienced that

    1. The NAND is your wii's memory. A NAND backup can help you recover from bricks, yes. It's best if you can install bootmii as boot2 but you should still do a NAND backup if you can only install as an IOS.

    2. Follow every step in the guide.

    3. No you won't have problems playing retail games. (If you install priiloader you can set it to block system updates from disks and online.
