Hello, just a little story, when I got me Wii my wife and I loved it. Got a console game that she can play also. My son came by one day and say he has a friend that can help me with my Wii, will leave it at that. He brought it home to me a few days later and had all these games on a hard drive. It was aswesome. Well I found out don't let a friend play with your Wii when you not around. He hit update and now I have nothing, zero, well you know what I mean. My son told his buddy move out of town now so I am stuck with out a Wii. I found your site and this is awesome. I am a noob but I am going to give this a try. I hope I can upgrade the soft mode without screwing this up. Can you give me any advice or should I just jump in and get my feet wet. Thank you so much for any advice that will help me.

    MIke Very Nervous

Well I'm not a noobie, nubbie, or nobbie, but I find it incredibly ridiculous that none of these "complete hacking guides" gives the procedure for determining the current VERSION of an OPERATING SYSTEM for an out of the box Wii. I'm not talking after I read 592 pages of bullshit. I'm talking right off the bat, at the start where this information should be. If anyone wants to point out where this missing info is, I'll be glad to go there, unless it's in hell.

While true it's not in the guide, certain basic knowledge is assumed easily within a user's possession or ability. Like clicking the settings button, and then looking in the top right-hand corner of the screen...

ok this is probably a really dumb ass question but I am a hot chick so I hope you will help me. I am stuck right at the very beginning with putting any files on the SD card. It tells me it is write protected so I can't do anything with it. I tried putting tape over the notch which I read in another thread but it doesn't work....I've tried three different types of cards. Help me please!!!

Try formatting the card before adding the files.
