I am already confused by this part in the guide.. please help..

This will work on SYSTEM MENU 4.2 VIRGIN and UPDATED. It will work for 4.2e, 4.2u and 4.2j , dunno about 4.2k (Cioscorp users will have a problem, "no vulnerable ios error", solution HERE!!!!!!!)
    ...
Warning, please all those who are on lower than 4.2, DO NOT update yet!! If you are on 3.1-4.1 system menu you should use the excellent Guide made by Dogeggs!
    ...
An online update will remove any cios you had on the wii!! You will lose the ability to play backups and load through usb! this is only for those who are already on 4.2.

So I got a wii for Christmas and I already ran the system update online for the console. So since I ran this update, I have now lost the ability to play backups and load through usb? But the first sentence says this will work with 4.2 virgin and updated. So whats the deal? Does this mean I can only play through SD card if I go through this guide?

Or are you saying once you go through the correct guide depending on your current version, NEVER run an update?

    Thanks.

The last line you quoted was the important part. The 4.2 update kills homebrew already on the console, not homebrew you haven't put on yet. You'll be fine, just read through the guide and follow what it instructs. And once your console is softmodded, no, do not take an official update.

    Hacks in priiloader

Hey everyone, I have gotten all the way through to the priiloader step with out a hitch, however when I click on System Menu Hacks it says

    "Can't find Hacks.ini on NAND"

I have a Hacks.txt file in the root of my sd.
Is there something that I missed in a previous step?

Thank you for this, I did 2 Wii's and it worked great. I have a question about the this other Wii, I followed through the instructions but this time it did not work, I can get to the usb loader screen and select the game i want to play but nothing happens after that. I get a black screen, also I am unable to play regular games now as well. It gives me a "unable to read disk" I insert the a game that i had played on it the day before and now it won't play. Any Ideas why now game will play now?

    Version 4.2U

    Thank you

    thanks!

I would just like to give you my sincere thanks for your tutorial. After having read the FAQ, and lots of informational posts, I decided on your guide as the best to go about softmodding my wii. I read through it twice, and then got started. The process from start to finish, where I was playing nsmb on my new wii took about 20 minutes and it was very easy. Thank you so much! I highly reccomend this guide to anyone getting started, just be sure to read up and learn as much as you can before starting! By the way for USB loader GX I noticed that it only worked if I started the loader before putting in the usb loader (during a countdown.) However, an update of ulgx fixed that problem.

Hello all, I have followed this guide to the letter but I still have a small problem I have a black wii and Im running iso's from my usb hdd which I have formatted with the wbsf manager everthing works fine until I remove the SD card then I get a "Exception (dsi) occurred" screen, I have noticed that when the sd card is in and I load the usb loader Im getting iso 236 not found but it stills loads, I have loaded the wad USBLoaderGX-r850 file and not the forwarder wad file? so have I loaded the wrong file some where ?
