When I first ran through the tutorial I accidentally hit INSTALL IOS249 and when all was said and done, I couldn't load either Neogamma or the USB loader at all. I caught my error, ran through step B again, this time changed function to UNinstall ios249, went through Step C again and then the two HB apps loaded successfully, so I'm certain the CIOS is running OK.

    I have a new 4.2U S/N Lu7337XXXX

neogamma loads (and it shows its using IOS249 R14 as it should) but I get disc read error. I'm CERTAIN I have the dreaded D3-2 chip (my version is not listed in the drive chip database yet and I don't feel like opening the unit to make sure) so I turned to USB loader.

Using a 16 Gig Duracell Flash (which is green in the compatibility chart). I used WBFS manager 3.0 to turn it into that type of partition. I loaded an NTSC-U ISO on the drive and plugged it into the correct USB slot on the Wii.

USB loader sees the drive and shows the title correctly but loading the game just gives me a black screen. I've tried different video and region settings. Made sure ISO249 was being used to load it....no dice. The best I can get is a blue screen with an error when error 002 is switched to ON. Everything else is a black screen, the Wii is locked and I have to manually reboot it.

I used USB loader to install a purchased game to the HDD. The rip went through successfully. The new title is available in the drive list now and THIS version gives me the same problem when I attempt to load it.

I switched Neogamma v8 to load off of USB and I get pretty much the same thing. First time it timed out trying to load, the other times the screen just hung at loading game and I needed to reboot the Wii manually.

I've read a lot of posts and most people with 4.2U are having no problems. I've certainly done my homework but I'm at a complete loss. This thread has 400 pages to it. I've attempted to search for my solution but I'm coming up short. If anyone can give me some ideas, I would be most grateful.

Thanks to the OP for the fine tutorial!!
did you make the drive active when you deleted and created the partition? just a suggestion, im sure u did but i had that prob too when i forgot to do that

Read carefully. Less fail next time.

I dont know what that error is but im only a novice so here are a few suggestions.
format card in fat32 do full format not quick format, put the files back on.
I ran into problems with just a corrupt file or two in the transfer to the sd card. also ran into problems with the wii not having enough memory (erase some channels if you have a lot of them).
try that. Make sure you have apps in your apps folder and they will load when homebrew starts then.

Any current Wii system that is sold can be softmodded. Yes your system can be modded. If you're on 4.2 follow this guide, if 4.1 or earlier follow the 3.1-4.1 guide.

Your wii most likely has a D3-2 chip which will prevent the drive from reading any non-original disc media. You'll have to load your backups from usb if this is the case.

    Angry

    Hey all, hey messie!

I have a simple question about SD card. I have unlocked my wii with your guide (thanks again for it) and everything is working just great (even mario and sports resort and all) . I'm running usbloader from HBC (from SD card).

I have no usbloader chennel yet.

I want to know the thing: if i install usbloadergx channel, will i still need SD card to load usbloader ?

Thanks for the answers and sorry about my bad english language.
