thanks, I was just trying to get it straight for when i do mine :-) In this case I will do exactly the same as you - did you have the latest wii 4.2e, with the 3-2 drive, I know I cant use backups so im doing the hdd route, thanks though

Mine were all 4.2U. I don't think that should make any difference for you though.

as far as the 3-2 drive, i only use usb loaders so I wasnt concerned with that... and you cant tell unless you tear it apart (bad idea) or try and use burned dvd's which i haven't done.

The Hdd route is much more convenient anyways. I have 80+ games on my wii at all times and never have to load/unload dvd's... plus I never had to burn them in the first place

Great job on the tutorial messie and hats off to you for keeping up with so many repeat questions.

Use the search guys. I have had multiple "errors" along the way, but every problem I have encountered I have been able to find in a forum search and they have all been answered multiple times in this thread. I spent a week reading before I even touched the wii then got everything working to the point I could load backup DVD's and a few trusted wiiware wads. Played with that for a while and get an understanding of how everything works. Then on to d5 and further. More small issues but nothing that alot of searching cant solve and most were due to me misreading something. Took me a day to get the wiiware to load from the sd but now I understand it. Instead of asking for someone to hold your hand and give you an answer people, you will be farther ahead if you look for the solution and take the time to understand it.

I have this exact same problem. I havent figured it out yet as I havnt been able to get near the wii since I uploaded a bunch of wiiware stuff but I did do a search in this thread and then I realized I forget to have the .ini file on the SD card when I installed priloader. The problem hasnt been answered exactly, but I know it has something to do with that .ini file, I dont yet know how. When I get a moment (and my kids surrender the wii) I will try reinstalling priiloader with the .ini file on the SD card and if that doesnt work, search for priiloader and see what else comes up.

    Hi Messie,

I'm at step D5 of your tutorial and i keep getting "Error making HTTP request". I tried the appendix and downloaded NUSD_v13Beta but I don't know the following steps. How do i install the ioses without using an internet connection. It automatically tries to connect.

Please help, I'm nearly finished with hack now.

    Us

    Code:
PART A: The astonishing installation of HBC: First steps into modding

In this part we will install HBC, which is used to runn apps from the system menu, using the bannerbomb exploit. Along the way, DVDx will be installed, this allows the lens to recognise burned DVDs (not play backups, just see they are there). In the end we will install Bootmii, which is a very useful app as we will see next.

A1)GET THIS and unrar the contents in the root of your SD card. In the root of the SD card whould be:
    root:\apps
    root:\private
    root:\wad
    IOS38-64-v3610.wad
    IOS70-64-v6687 [Patched][FreeTheBug].wad
    boot.elf
    Hacks.ini

A2)Run to your wii, place the card in the SD slot and navigate to the SD card icon, bottom left, writes SD and has the same shape, can't really miss it. Once you did this, a warning screen about scams should appear, press ok, screen will go black. A disclaimer shall appear, press one to continue.
(note: following my guide you will never get an upside down HBC. If you ever find the HBC upside down, run this installer again and install HBC again)

A3)Now three lines should appear: Homebrew channel, which can be isntalled, DVDx, also can be installed, Bootmii, which possibly will give you an error. Install Homebrew Channel, DVDX. On bootmii option, select "prepare SD card". After it finishes, install it as boot2 (if possible) or as an IOS.

Warning: Bootmii at most cases will give you an error, so it cannot be installed as a boot2. For most of you will be isntalled as an ios. That is fine.

A4)After that you are ready, you have isntalled all of the above! now an app can be palced in the apps folder in your SD card and be run by HBC! This has a load of functions: Media players, Emulators, Useful apps and Homebrew games! browse tham all here, but take care with the ones you dont really understand,as they might ruin your wii! most of them are really safe tho.

Those who were able to install bootmi as boot2 SHOULD BACKUP THEIR NAND RIGHT AWAY!!! If bootmii was isntalled as ios, then you dont need this step, although you can make one just in case. Mind that you will need a Gamecube controller tho if bootmii was an ios
do i keep going if i am just going to use usb loader to play backups or do i just stop and do i need the dvdx if i just going to use backup because my wii belive my wii have the new chip thanks
