    Zenaku,

I believe it's because you have to download atleast 1 song from the RB2 music store in order for your custom songs to show up in game.
I'm not 100% on that, but sounds like that might be the problem.

obtaining all dlc without wii internet connection

I'm not sure if I should make a separate thread for this but hmmm....

my situation is that have the ballinger's pc tools on my computer and I tried to run the xyzzy app to get my ng id but since I don't have an internet connection, the xyzzy app isn't able to download the IOS it needs to obtain my NG ID. So, my question is how do I get my NG ID without an internet connection on my Wii? Do I download the IOS xyzzy needs from somewhere else and install via wad manager or is there an alternate method of getting my NG ID? I read something about nand backup earlier but that sounds complicated.

so, my guess is after I am able to get my NG ID I can proceed following the method described in ballinger's pc tools guide. however I must also say that I run all my RB/GH games via the Rock Band launcher softchip channel and NOT the disc channel so will this still work with that? I can get my games to work via the disc channel but my instruments won't work so I have to load the games via the Rock Band launcher softchip channel in order for the games to load AND my RB2 drum kits to work. Thanks in advance!

when this works, i will be obtaining all dlc from gen 1 until now which is currently gen 4, if I am correct.

I think you would at least need the internet connection on the wii to obtain the list of dlc, Maybe not though, I would just install the wads, download one ofr the gens and try it and see if it works

I'm confused. Have you seen the tutorial text file that is included with the ballinger's pc tools? I only ask this because you said "I would just install the wads". There are no wads to download unless I have my Wii's NG ID. Maybe you are referring to a different process and not getting the dlc via ballinger's pc tools....?? Can you clarify please? What wads are you specifically referring to?

the gens 1 and 2 you mentioned come with ballinger's pc tools so that's another reason I assume you are referring to ballinger's pc tools.

He means the wads that you install on the Wii so it makes every song show up as purchased. So then you don't need your NG ID. You only need that if you plan on downloading the songs on your PC. If that's the case you could get your NG ID from Bootmii. I actually installed Bootmii specifically to find my NG ID as xyzzy would not work for me.

How do I do that? I have been doing some Google searches on "Bootmii ng id" but I can't find any clear instructions on how to get the NG ID by using bootmii. I am about to try trekster's advice now. (since I just got off of work)

update: I can't do trekster's method since I can't seem to find working links of RB2 dlc gen 1 through gen 3. I only see gen 4 on the first page of this thread. In my google searches, some of the files have been showing up as torrents but every other one that has been on different forums has all gone bad. So, I don't trust the torrents. So, I have to find a way to get my NG ID via bootmii. but how?? From what I have been researching, if I install bootmii then it will really change my system and not in a good way. So, hopefully I can keep my wii the way it is and still obtain my wii's ng-id maybe without installing bootmii...

update #2: I found a youtube link explaining how to install bootmii:

    here is another guide:
    http://adewii.wordpress.com/2009/10/...x-and-bootmii/

but it still doesn't mention anything about getting my wii's Ng-id...?? which one should I follow? the youtube video or the guide in the 2nd link?

update #3: i'm sorry for so many updates in this one post but I just want to be as detailed as possible in case i brick my wii so i can retrace my steps to unbrick my wii. ok, I read this on the bootmii page at wiibrew.org:
Instead of using xyzzy, you can retrieve your console keys from the keys.bin file BootMii v3 or later produces when backing up the NAND. To view them, open keys.bin with a hex editor http://wiibrew.org/wiki/BootMii

so, I don't know what a hex editor is but I think i can just open the keys.bin using text editor. If i'm wrong then i'm sure you all will let me know. so at this stage, I need to know what console key from the list on the bootmii page at wiibrew.org is the equivalent of the ng-id that ballinger's pc tools requires to work properly.

After you have Bootmii installed when you run it, in one of the tabs or sections it gives information about your console and in that it has your NG_ID#.
You don't have to open anything with a hex editor (atleast I didn't).
Like I said on one of the screens in bootmii it gives you your NG-ID #.
