    Please provide more information. What softmod guide did you follow. Your Wii FW version, extent of softmods-did you install a cIOS successfully, did you install IOS 38, 53, 55-most of the games prior to about April 2009-ish use these....? Did you also install bootmii and/or preloader.

    Yes, many of us recognize this video because we have so many of you coming to us afterward unable to play your backup games. Too many steps are left out in this outdated and sometimes dangerous video. If you are serious about softmodding your Wii go here: <link rel="File-List" href="file:///C:%5CDOCUME%7E1%5Cmpq%5CLOCALS%7E1%5CTemp%5Cmsohtm l1%5C01%5Cclip_filelist.xml"><!--[if gte mso 9]><xml> <w:WordDocument> <w:View>Normal</w:View> <w:Zoom>0</w:Zoom> <w:PunctuationKerning/> <w:ValidateAgainstSchemas/> <w:SaveIfXMLInvalid>false</w:SaveIfXMLInvalid> <w:IgnoreMixedContent>false</w:IgnoreMixedContent> <w:AlwaysShowPlaceholderText>false</w:AlwaysShowPlaceholderText> <w:Compatibility> <w:BreakWrappedTables/> <w:SnapToGridInCell/> <w:WrapTextWithPunct/> <w:UseAsianBreakRules/> <wontGrowAutofit/> </w:Compatibility> <w:BrowserLevel>MicrosoftInternetExplorer4</w:BrowserLevel> </w:WordDocument> </xml><![endif]--><!--[if gte mso 9]><xml> <w:LatentStyles DefLockedState="false" LatentStyleCount="156"> </w:LatentStyles> </xml><![endif]--><style> <!-- /* Style Definitions */ p.MsoNormal, li.MsoNormal, div.MsoNormal {mso-style-parent:""; margin:0in; margin-bottom:.0001pt; mso-pagination:widow-orphan; font-size:12.0pt; font-family:"Times New Roman"; mso-fareast-font-family:"Times New Roman";} a:link, span.MsoHyperlink {color:blue; text-decoration:underline; text-underline:single;} a:visited, span.MsoHyperlinkFollowed {colorurple; text-decoration:underline; text-underline:single;} @page Section1 {size:8.5in 11.0in; margin:1.0in 1.25in 1.0in 1.25in; mso-header-margin:.5in; mso-footer-margin:.5in; mso-paper-source:0;} div.Section1 {page:Section1;} --> </style><!--[if gte mso 10]> <style> /* Style Definitions */ table.MsoNormalTable {mso-style-name:"Table Normal"; mso-tstyle-rowband-size:0; mso-tstyle-colband-size:0; mso-style-noshow:yes; mso-style-parent:""; mso-padding-alt:0in 5.4pt 0in 5.4pt; mso-para-margin:0in; mso-para-margin-bottom:.0001pt; mso-pagination:widow-orphan; font-size:10.0pt; font-family:"Times New Roman"; mso-ansi-language:#0400; mso-fareast-language:#0400; mso-bidi-language:#0400;} </style> <![endif]--> http://www.wiihacks.com/recommended-...d-any-wii.html <o></o>

    . Read through the tutorial very carefully; it does take more than 7 minutes and most folks problems are because they failed to follow a step. If you have Homebrew installed, you can skip that part of Step 1. Best of luck.

    Alright, let me try to state the problem I'm having in as descriptive and detailed a manner as possible. Firstly, let me just say that I think this guide has to be re-written. It's missing a lot of detailed information that complete beginners to Wii hacking desperately need if they don't want to go totally insane.

    OK, now onto my problem. I was reading your "New 3.1-4.1 Softmod" guide, Section 3 Get A Cios. This is where you totally lose people. Where's Trucha Bug Restorer??? The files for that aren't in that guide. I'm assuming THIS guide is what you need to get TBR, correct? If so, please post a link to that download file in your Softmod Guide.

    Alright, still with me? ... I downloaded the TBR package above, all well and good so far. Now here's where you lost me: what's with direction #1 above??? I put the 4 IOS files in my SD card root, no problem. The "copy files to SD card" directive is also so vague. WHAT FILES???? And what in god's name does "the 3 apps in the 'apps' folder" refer to??? There are NO apps that came in the TBR package above. If so, exactly what are they?

    All that's in that package are the 4 IOS files, boot.dol, changelog, icon, meta, and README. (Does boot.dol have to go somewhere?)

    I also noticed that in the JPEG model picture you gave, there are 3 folders under the "apps" folder. Are you supposed to have those there??? Do you have to create them yourself? If so, what are their names since they got cut off in the picture?? And does anything belong in them??

    Bottom line here is that TBR can't run for whatever reason, most likely due to lack of a proper and systematic explanation. Simply following the "New 3.1-4.1 Softmod" guide definitely isn't enough, and apparently, neither is this guide. I get the feeling that Dogeggs knows his stuff, but the manner in which he's explaining it isn't the best. More detail is needed, step by step. Reading "Copy files to SD card" without an explanation as to what files and where they're going doesn't mean anything. Instead of posting a picture with cut-off folder names, please give a listing on the files and folders that should be set up on the SD card. That picture is definitely not worth a thousand words.

    Perhaps your issues are based on a problem with either the download or the extraction of the rar files.

    First, no you do not need to come here for the TBR, the softmodpack you downloaded in the softmodding all wiis 3.1-4.1 tutorial contained all the necessary files.

    I just downloaded the TBR rar to check for your problems and I saw the wads that needed to be copied to SD root, I also saw a apps folder with three folders inside ready to be copied to the SD card...etc. As you report they are missing, I suspect yur download or extraction was corrupted. I have also checked using three different rar extraction programs (Win Rar, 7-Zip, and Rarzilla all without a problem).

    Dogeggs does indeed know his stuff. Until rather recently, he answered the majority of those thousands of questions you see in these threads and used and continues to use the questions to refine the download pack contents, update the apps provided, and to re-edit the tutorials.

    I also checked the graphic and I saw nothing was cut off. I'm sorry for your very frustrating experience, but it is not typical. You appear methodical and thorough and so should have had a very easy time going through the softmod. How unfortunate that your downloads or extraction should have created such problems for you.

    Please try the softmod tutorial and download again-the download provides all the apps needed to complete Steps 1-5. I wish you better luck this time.<link rel="File-List" href="file:///C:%5CDOCUME%7E1%5Cmpq%5CLOCALS%7E1%5CTemp%5Cmsohtm l1%5C01%5Cclip_filelist.xml"><!--[if gte mso 9]><xml> <w:WordDocument> <w:View>Normal</w:View> <w:Zoom>0</w:Zoom> <w:PunctuationKerning/> <w:ValidateAgainstSchemas/> <w:SaveIfXMLInvalid>false</w:SaveIfXMLInvalid> <w:IgnoreMixedContent>false</w:IgnoreMixedContent> <w:AlwaysShowPlaceholderText>false</w:AlwaysShowPlaceholderText> <w:Compatibility> <w:BreakWrappedTables/> <w:SnapToGridInCell/> <w:WrapTextWithPunct/> <w:UseAsianBreakRules/> <wontGrowAutofit/> </w:Compatibility> <w:BrowserLevel>MicrosoftInternetExplorer4</w:BrowserLevel> </w:WordDocument> </xml><![endif]--><!--[if gte mso 9]><xml> <w:LatentStyles DefLockedState="false" LatentStyleCount="156"> </w:LatentStyles> </xml><![endif]--><style> <!-- /* Style Definitions */ p.MsoNormal, li.MsoNormal, div.MsoNormal {mso-style-parent:""; margin:0in; margin-bottom:.0001pt; mso-pagination:widow-orphan; font-size:12.0pt; font-family:"Times New Roman"; mso-fareast-font-family:"Times New Roman";} a:link, span.MsoHyperlink {color:blue; text-decoration:underline; text-underline:single;} a:visited, span.MsoHyperlinkFollowed {colorurple; text-decoration:underline; text-underline:single;} @page Section1 {size:8.5in 11.0in; margin:1.0in 1.25in 1.0in 1.25in; mso-header-margin:.5in; mso-footer-margin:.5in; mso-paper-source:0;} div.Section1 {page:Section1;} --> </style><!--[if gte mso 10]> <style> /* Style Definitions */ table.MsoNormalTable {mso-style-name:"Table Normal"; mso-tstyle-rowband-size:0; mso-tstyle-colband-size:0; mso-style-noshow:yes; mso-style-parent:""; mso-padding-alt:0in 5.4pt 0in 5.4pt; mso-para-margin:0in; mso-para-margin-bottom:.0001pt; mso-pagination:widow-orphan; font-size:10.0pt; font-family:"Times New Roman"; mso-ansi-language:#0400; mso-fareast-language:#0400; mso-bidi-language:#0400;} </style> <![endif]--> http://www.wiihacks.com/recommended-...d-any-wii.html <o></o>

    Now that you mention the corrupt RAR extraction programs, that could be the cause for this chaos. I have a program called SuperNZB to extract the files. That could be the cause, and I'm going to get another extraction program. If this is the case and I do get the appropriate files, I apologize in advance for my ranting. I never knew that this could be the problem

    I'm sure that is the cause of your problems then. Of course what you saw as a consequence would have no rational relationship to the instructions. Given the circumstances that you, of course, did not realize had happened you probably thought the instructions a bit insane. However, as I have explained over 20,000 are known to have used the softmod tutorial. Most problems come about from people not reading the tutorial thoroughly or cavalierly deciding to skip a step on whim. You do not appear to be that type of person. Try again and use WinRar or 7-Zip. Count yourself lucky that messie did not respond to your rant first;-).

    Knowing what you used initially, I'm reasonably confident your re-try will go better. Best wishes.

    Wonderful, yep, that was the problem. The RAR extractor was totally corrupted because there were files missing. I downloaded Win RAR and things are looking OK so far. Thanks so much
