I do have the dreaded black screen that says corrupted files at start up. Tried going back to virgin wii but that didn't work. Is there a fix or does this go back to the store. Help!
Do you still have access to HBC by starting the Wii while holding down reset button (preloader menu)? What did you do to try to return to virgin state? What error code occurred on failure to upgrade to 4.1? Your origin state 3.4E,U,J?

I tried out this tutorial, but it looks like it ends up semi-bricking my Wii (hangs when I go into settings menu). I have a backup of my NAND so I'm able to restore my Wii back into a working state, but I'd like to be able to do this.

Does anyone have any ideas what is wrong with my Wii? I'm on version 3.2U and I used the TP hack, but it's been so long since I last touched it that I can't remember what I've installed/done on it.

    Thanks for any help

If you have restored your Wii, a 3.2U Wii already has the TB, you can skip the TBR steps.

By restored, I meant restored the NAND backup I made prior to doing this update. If I try installing cios14 (either after doing the TBR steps, or without them), I get the same problem.

One of the reasons I was doing the TBR stuff is because whenever I try to use any IOS installer to do a network installation, it always fails. I was under the impression this happened because my Wii didn't have the TB.

Yes, that's what I meant too-so you are back to your original un-semi-bricked state and want to install cIOS38rev14 as per this tutorial. What do you mean by hanging settings-do you see an error message. Please describe.

When I go to my Wii settings menu, eventually my Wii will freeze. I can see stuff on the screen but my remote is unresponsive (don't see a cursor and none of the buttons do anything.

Well, your original 3.2UWii has IOS's with the Trucha Bug vulnerability so that's not the problem. You mentioned using IOS Installer-have you installed or overwritten any of the Wii core IOS's in the past? Was the sysmenu overwritten, change regions?

Once restored, as you just did, you can go into the Wii settings and no freezing occurs? The semi-brick is completely resolved?

I honestly don't remember if I overwrote any of the core IOSs in the past. Given the problem I'm having, I assumed I did.

Yes, once restored no freezing occurs
