Hey there. I have a little problem with installation. I'm in a step 8-g. I have to start homebrew channel, but every time i click start, my wii restarts and i'm not able to start this channel. I already had homebrew channel installed on my wii before trying to softmodding. Any ideas? Thanks.

Is there any impact to gameplay, like lower framerate?

I am also getting this error (ret = -1035) as well on 4.0u..
EDITid alternative. gah the alternative is taking such a long time since you have to approve which ioses to install

I been reading these guides and some of this stuff doesn't make sense. So you have to downgrade your updates that have been giving to you? If so doesn't that make you lose the functionality of the SD card on the wii menu interface? None of these guides never thoroughly explain what these programs actually do to the wii.
Being a newbie to the scene I have some questions and hope someone would be kind enough to respond to them.
1.I want to try to get the backup loader to work but I understand you have to downgrade your firmware,which sounds bad enough as it is. How does it work? Can you potentially brick the wii doing this?
2.Is there a SAFE way to do all of this without bricking your system. I heard there is a way to recover a bricked wii, how would I go about doing this so I can stop something bad happening before I try running anything that could hurt my wii.
3.I've heard that if you want system updates you have to do it through the homebrew channel, May I ask how you do this. (Yes,I have the HBC installed but there are just somethings to get the other stuff to run properly)

You can potentially brick the wii if you don't follow the instructions correctly, or you lose power during downgrade but the tutorials explain this.

You can install Starfall wii 3.2 only or Preloader which allow you to recover partially bricked wii.

You are referring to CIOS updates and WAD's (check tutorial for more in depth explanation.

Hi, I am new to all of this. I have been reading for a little while. This seems to be a great guide that I have seen so far. However, before I discovered this, I have installed HomeBrew channel and BootMii via BootMii installer beta 2. My wii has system menu 3.4. Can I still follow this guide to "Softmod" my wii? Do I have to uninstall what BootMii installer has installed?

will this guide work if my serial starts with LU65? If not do you have 1 that will work, i would love to be able to play burnt back ups or even play from external HD via usb which ever is easiest??? any and all help is welcome and i am thankful for in advance.
Hello.Recently I've installed HBC via HackMii installer beta 2,but I didn't succeed.Although on the screen (on my LCD) said I successfully installed the HBC and DVDX (not BootMii - have to install via IOS),when I opened the HBC and click 'Start' nothing really happened (only the HBC screen with the bubbles).So I'm assuming that the HBC are not installed on my Wii.Luckily,I found your thread and after a quick read,I feel that this is what I need.Thanks. But still have several question in my head.I'm on 3.2 U softmod with ready installed WiiGator 0.3 Gamma (Backup Launcher),Twilight Hack JPN v0.1 -beta 1 and IOS 249.Can I still use all this (your instructions) to install HBC?Hope to hear from you soon.
