How to get a cIOS on System Menu 4 with Cboot2

This guide is now out of date!
    Use this one here instead.

This is a much simpler way or doing the same thing that the IOS35 trick does, that is = get cIOS249 on your Wii, once you have this you can downgrade your IOS and Wad errors will be a thing of the past. Download this rar and follow these instructions:

1: Copy contents of 'SD Card 1' to SD card.

2: Put card in Wii and go to Data Management > channels > SD Card, then you will get a message saying "Load boot.elf? Select 'Yes'.

3: Install Bootmii v2 as an IOS.

4: Install the Homebrew Channel (unless you have it already)

5: Remove SD card and save the Bootmii installation to your PC.

6: Delete Bootmii installation off of your SD card and copy contents of 'SD Card 2' to your card.

7: Now put card back in, restart your wii ,start HBC, press home then run Bootmii.

8: The screen will be black for 10 seconds then Wad manager will run.

9: Select uninstall first then install IOS249.wad.

10: Go to HB channel and run cIOS38_rev13b-Installer, use network install.

11: Go to HB channel and run IOS downgrader.

12: If you want to stay on 4 download this rar and follow instructions in the readme, but don't run ios downgrader again.

hi I'm really sorry if this is the wrong place for this but I followed your guide here and everything was working fine until I tried using the cIOS installer. it says reading "IOS38-64-v3610.wad" error ret = -1 which is not the IOS249.wad.

    help?

edit: the text file didn't mention anything about choosing network install, sorry... Thanks for all the hard work guys, keep it up!

    Thumbs up

Hi, first off all i'd like to thank Dogeggs for this guide.

My question is : Ive already installed HBC on a lu65 3.4U using the twilight hack and IOS16-64-v257-prod.wad with wad manager, but when i try to load custom wad manager i get black screen...So im stuck.

So now i was wondering should i start over from scratch ?
Should i upgrade to 4.0U using waninkoko's upgrader or should i stick to 3.4U?

    Thanx 4 all the help.

    help.

Hey, i have tried several guides throughout the internet, and from this website, and every single time I run any cIOS installer, I always get the same error:

    Installing Custom IOS, please wait......
    >> Install ERROR! (ret = -2011)

That's when I choose IOS version IOS38, and when I choose version IOS249 I get this:

    Initializing network....
    ERROR! (ret = -116)

both are on Network mode. This happens every time I go through any tutorial with any cIOS installer. I'm running firmware 4.0u. Any tips on would be helpful, thanks.
